Fenix 5x Western Europe map will not update, its showing Western Europe 2.0 is available for update but I keep getting there was a error installing this update, I know this is an issue previously reported on this forum and fixed for others, any ideas?
There is a post on page 4 with picks. Have a read through the whole thread. :--) Contact product support on how to do it if your unsure as they took me through it step by step on which files to delete. All the best.
I contacted support multiple times about one month ago but they don't know anything about it. They just told me to wait for next update that should fix the problem.. Anyway I have more than 3.5 gb free space on the watch, but I still get the error when I try to update to Western Europe 2.0 (that is 3.3gb). So it should not be a free space problem.. Since the issue is affecting lots of users it's not acceptable that garrmin doesn't provide any solution and doesn't say anything about it. If there is a way to fix deleting some files the should at least let us know how to do it here.
That's the trouble.....It depends how knowledgeable the support team member you get is... You might have to tell them what you want to do....point them in the right direction ...then they can tell you which extension files go with each map to delete.... As you say....it would be easier if they posted the tempory solution here....but most of the product support staff I've spoke to....aren't aware these forums exist.....only a few Garmin staff monitor these forums.
I did it myself, deleted part of Europe which I dont need and backed up, just in case. I have enough space now, the map still does not update, does not say reson. Is there any error log anywhere to check that?
Hi folks, I got a brandnew Fenix 5x and I tried to update the maps with garmin express, but western europe 2 is not possible, all the other preinstalled maps worked fine. Now I checked the free space and cleaned the maps I don´t need, so that I´ve got 6gb of free space but still the update of the western europe 2 map doesn´t work. Any ideas or suggestions for me?
Update: After removing the maps with windows th available storage should be 6gb. When I check the storage capacity with the android app it says there is only 1,5gb left. There seems to be some kind of place holder inside the storage. Maybe by removing this the update would be possible. Any ideas?
Still no updates after months, the problem is totally ignored from Garmin. I contacted support again with email and I've not received any reply. Tried with live chat and the operator told me to wait and closed the chat immediatly.
