I can not believe this lousy company is milking the way out of this release 8.0, it has been 1 month and 2 weeks out of this worthless firmware. These dudes they really got no dignity, not even an apology. I have to admit I buy garmin due to ant+, Suunto and polar don't do it.

Thinking to sell my Fenix 5X for Spartan Ultra (that i owned some time ago), it has less options but all its functions works almost flawlessly! I'm tired to report back error to beta team and wait months until they decide to fix them, most of times fixing bugs means introduce new ones... unacceptable! The only thing for now that stop me to buy a Spartan Ultra is that i'm a swimmer and Suunto hasn't swim drill log.

If you are still buying then they are doing a good enough job. Agree that firmware bugs are annoying and that it sometimes takes forever to fix "simple" things.

But after all the 8.0 release is quite stable, at least the features I use.

Personally I like the betas they provide, even if I somtimes have to live with some issues like the battery drain in the latest 8.54 beta release.
Guess this will be fixed in the next stable release.

While you may be right about buying from them, I have to admit it was "the luck of it", my wife bought it for me and I was thinking about exchange it for the Spartan one. I didnt, so, it is my fault as well for being stuck with it. I just think even if the next one is a present I will exhange it for another one. The watch looks very good, many things work properly, but there are way too many bugs.
The last "stable release" is very alpha for my taste, not even beta.

This product, the fenix 5x,, I dont know if it is doing well on sells, but for sure there are many customers that arent happy. At least that i know for sure 8 guys didnt buy this watch because of me telling them about bugs. While I can not trash watches I dont have for sure I trash this one until it works properly.
  • I’ve had my 5x for about 8 months. I Think it looks good and is solid hardware. The functionality is very useful and motivational. However, I would not and don’t recommend it due to the consistent beta-like buggy nature of both beta and released software versions. Same is true of Garmin Connect Mobile: plenty of good features that are often and regularly undermined by the regular bugs. I could recommend this watch and its ecosystem if only it could be stable most of the time.

yes this thread is about an actual beta, so we should expect bugs, but I’d really like the developers to consider how the could introduce some periods of stability into the public non-beta releases. If that can’t happen I’ll move on from Garmin after I wear out the 5x. If not many agree with me then, of course, Garmin has nothing to worry about.
  • Now, when I get out of the car I reach my flight of stairs goal, I'm kicking ass :-)
  • I noticed that during a pool swim my phone received a call. When I finished my pool swim workout I saw the phone call notification on my fenix, but instead of allowing me to dismiss the notification it is stuck on telling my to accept or reject the call though it will not allow me to do anything but cancel out of the screen.
  • Why are the betas not suitable for APAC? I purchased my watch in the US, but I am now in Australia.
