  • Hi,what part of the watches functionality do you find slower apart from the GPS fix.
    Updates after 6.0 (using an IQ benchmark score)..the 5x has gone from a score of 161 down to 98! for IQ prg's.
    (games run slower)
    Or are you refering to the standard inbuilt functions of the watch.

    Exactly. Before that update, CIQ apps were faster. They probably decreased the CPU speed for CIQ apps or limited it in other way to decrease the battery consumption of apps. I'd just want this as a setting in watch settings, so that a user can decide what he wants. Additionally, I haven't seen any battery consumption decrease after that update...
  • Yes totally agreed, Im not a developer like yourself, but I've done alot of testing for a few developers,I'm mentioned in some apps, and after 6.0 the processing power was drastically reduced making games I've worked on slower like..Tetris on insane mode is now the same as hard...not like when the Dev wrote and i tested it on 6.0 when they were two different levels.
    Or the brickout game...now to slow to play on hard, on 6.0 was fast and smooth...
    etc etc.....
    I hope we get our processor speed back?.....
  • As "kees" mentioned the watch is very laggy....for instance using my usual CIQ watchface "Digistyle" by Dirkn, when there was no lag before.
    Also there's a double beep imitted when I press the light button when using the watchface now, and takes approx 10 seconds to see my apps or to scroll the first widget...really laggy.
    :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
    No lag at all when using a standard built in watchface.( keep the watch basic)
    Fast GPS fix....
    Slower processor for the IQ watchface.
    I'll test more and report to Garmim, then revert back to 6.0 for the super fast processor speeds.

    Resting HR is still way off.
    I occasionally get prompts to calibrate a power sensor before starting a run, or on pause and run summary screens. Yes, Stryd is connected as a footpod and power meter, but there is no calibration to do.
  • I'm having good results using HRM-Run chest strap with this and the previous 8.0 build. Before that I had actually packed-up my chest strap to return it. Works fine now. Battery consumption a little higher with custom watch face ActiFace, but not terrible. Can run 4-hours and wear 5-6 days before needing a charge.

    if Garmin's public releases are already junk at best, beta has to be dreadful.

    Problems after reverting to back 8.0 from this beta, where there was none before::::::::::::::::::::::
    Original watchface Digistyle now just displays an IQ error?!
    In Navigate app....select alerts and i get multiple text errors and multiple "Add new" screens?!

    Any Ideas as to what happend reverting back?
    ::::::::UPDATE::::::::
    Multiple "Add new" screens are effecting all native apps!...but only if I add more than two alerts within an app!?..........
    Reverted back to 7.6 now,, so I'm going to roll forward again to 8.0....
    Still cant use the watchface though.
    So I've gone from 8.0 to 8.54.......back to 8.0......back to 7.60.........forward to 8.0 again to get ridd of corrupt files...performed multiple master resets.........and nothings changed...
    On the phone again to Garmin after the weekend....brilliant.

    No general problem with GPS.

    Used my 5x for two runs with v8.54 where I also used a Polar V800. V800 slightly better as always, but nothing related to this release for me. Here you can compare:
    Long: https://analyze.dcrainmaker.com/#/public/8828c649-0847-45e2-729a-b16716877fe3
    Short: https://analyze.dcrainmaker.com/#/public/daca3027-cac5-4f08-48d0-ff946284ba95

    Also big elevation drift in the beginning (nothing new) coming from inside to cold outside.

    Whats new for me, is that I got more battery usage (as you can see in fit) for the above long run than I've seen before, more than 20%/hour w/o navigation and only short period with maps.
    Usually I have 11-13%/hour on long runs with navigation and maps, livetrack, runpow, runscribe datafield. Last year Q3 I was between 7 and 9 %/hour, but then w/o runpow and runscribe.
    I'll see what a restart can do.
