F5x and FR645 Music

When I first got my F5x I was wondering why there was no integrated mp3-player. Why should I take my mobile with me if I could easily connect my bt-headphones to the watch and do have ~5-6GB of free memory for music storage?

Well, I tried to discuss that with garmin but never got an answer.

So imagine how suprised I have been, when I just got the news that the 645 Music is released in Germany. And guess what it's USP is... right, integrated MP3.

Fun Question: Will Garmin update the 5x or do they expect us to buy the 6/5+ one day got get a function that should have been aviable from the first day on?
  • My question has always been...

Why in the world would person NOT want to have their phone with them on a workout?

If an emergency happened, wouldn't you want your phone?

They make waist bands that are stretchy and hold a phone so you can't even feel you have it.

Marketing hype if you ask me.

I always run, trail run, and hike without a phone. For one, the vast majority of places I go have no cell service. Two, I don't like extra crap bouncing around. Finally, it's one more thing that can get messed up either from sweat, or an unexpected rain shower, or fall in a stream.

The only time I'm worried about an emergency is when I'm backpacking, and for that I take a personal locator beacon. Where I go, I'm way, way out of cell range.

If I want music, I take an iPod nano with good 'ole wired headphones.

I agree with the points around the Bluetooth limitations on the Fenix 5x, we will never see an update. Plus the storage space after maps and all the other stuff is rather tight.

i have various Apple Watch versions and never used the music function. If I want music I either use a nano for running or just stream music from my phone to my earphones in the gym, adding music to my watch just adds an extra thing to think about
