Fenix 5S/5 - 6.83 Beta Release

Hello Fenix 5S/5 users,

We have new beta software ready for your upcoming adventures!

The system, BLE/ANT/SNS, and WiFi (if applicable) software have been updated in this beta. Please read the 'notes' and 'installation instructions' in the 'Updates and Downloads' page found in the link below.

6.83 Change Log Notes:

Improved Training Status and Training Load now updated with heart rate data that is stored on an HRM-Tri or HRM-swim and sent to the watch.
Improved Compass steadiness when still and responsiveness when moving.
Fixed an issue causing the backlight to remain on while on the charging page.
Fixed issue causing the Start/Stop and Lap keys to only clear notifications when they are displayed instead of also performing their general function (for example, starting the timer and recording a lap).
Fixed an issue preventing Work from being displayed on Varia Vision.
Fixed an issue preventing Lap HR % Max from being displayed on Varia Vision.
Fixed an issue causing the Best Power personal record to be displayed incorrectly.
Fixed an issue causing Wi-Fi Networks to be displayed in Garmin Connect Mobile for devices without Wi-Fi.
Added support for Connect IQ SDK 2.4.1.

After one of the other beta's, my pace also changed to km/hr. Had to change it in the watch. Surprised me that it was a separate setting. I figured since I was set to miles, I would get miles/hr, but that is different on the Fenix 5 I guess.

trouble is it reverts to KM/HR on a sync :(

still there's a way around it for now with a CIQ data field

6.83 has a bug where the timeout for the backlight is reset to one minute whenever the watch syncs. I have this set to 4 sec but after each sync it gets reset to one minute. Very annoying. It seems that there are a lot of issues with the beta versions now.

I have the same!

Another issue which is not exactly due to last beta release - active calories are practically never equal to the sum of the workouts' calories, always less. Have reported both issues to beta team.

Igor,

"Active calories" subtracts your underlying metabolism during your workout time, which is why they are never equal. This has been the case for as long as I have had the watch (FW 2.7 onwards).
