F5x Cracks on HR sensor resin due to curing fault

Hi
an heads up following several reports, substantiated by pictures, of f5x owners having cracked (christallized shall i say) HR sensors, which apparently is due to manufacturers curing defects that cause the transparent resin to disintegrate with heat excursion.
I had my f5x replaced no question asked by Cotswalds outdoor shop in uk, can't fault them.
Do have a look at the transparent plastic around the 3 green leds, if you see lines when shining a light on it your watch is affected.
I will try to post a picture here. Apparently this happened on fenix 3hr too
Cheers

Same issue on my F5X - SN 54G027796. Far from even being a year old. Posted on another thread on this before I found this thread. Sent a support request to Garmin and they requested additional photos. I hope they don't immediately try to blame me for the resin cracking.

I am also seeing this. I cannot feel anything when pulling the nail over the sensor, so I don't know how concerned I am. Sure doesn't look right though.

I have same issue on mine. Hasn't been a problem *yet* will likely watch here as others stated above.
  • Guys why you are not reading manuals? Its not a dive watch, you just can do watersports on top of water. Rtm.

This problem can never occur to me. The F5X barometer breaks down in every 2 months. :-)

It's stated to 100M. I never dive, so if I (or ready for this--other people who read this forum casually) get water in our watch I'm going to be upset because of junk resin and I'd at least like to be aware this isn't a singular issue due to the way I store or wear my watch.

    That's all people are noting.
  • Don't believe I've seen people reporting it due to 'diving' - appears to just occur on some batches.

Had this with 2 brand new watches so far. I'm on my 3rd watch from Best Buy. The first had significant cracks forming around the sides near the steel back. The second looked like it was scratched up around the edges near the steel backing but it was actually small cracks under the surface of the resin. I just exchanged my watch for the 3rd time at Best Buy today. The resin looks much darker on my current elevate sensor than the other two and I haven't noticed any cracking so far.

This picture is from a brand new watch. It looks like it's scratched but the surface is actually smooth. The "scratching" is forming under the surface.

Here is a photo of mine. I had multiple replacements because of the cable issue and now have a new “gold pin” watch, which has completely solved the cable issue. I’m now seeing these cracks though. At the moment it doesn’t seem to have any effect, so I’m just watching and waiting.ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1296979.jpg
