Fenix 5x vs 935

Hi,
which one to choose??
Battery duration 935 24h fenix 5x 20h
weight 935 48g fenix 5x 98g
Cage 935 plastic fenix 5x stainless steel
Memory 935 64MB fenix 5x 12GB
Maps 935 no maps f?nix 5x yes maps

The price is the same but a little more expensive f?nix.
  • What advise would you expect in forum of the owners of 5x? Of course 5x is considered better for most of us here :). Map you can upload except of original garmin paid maps also many free topo maps.
seriously it depends on what are you going to do with the watch. For marathon and triathlon 935 is probably better due to weight, size etc. On biking you will net be able to utilize the map functionality due to size of display. If you go hiking than 5x is better. At least my view.
there are folks having both devices here, so they can give you more information.
  • The 935 is lighter, cheaper, and has a better battery life. If you are looking for a sports watch, it is probably the better option.

I guess it really comes down to how much value do you put on mapping. I learnt my navigational craft with paper map and compass, and tend to the personal view that digital mapping on a watch-sized screen is not really all that useful, and I prefer to select my own routes rather than trust a piece of software. Others put a higher value on this functionality, and that is a legitimate view as well.

    I've got both.
FR935 is super stable on Bluetooth links with smartphone and HR chest (i.e. Polar H7, H10).
My 5X is instead very disappointing on Bluetooth (too many dropouts still unsolved with firmware 5.40).
  • I had two Fenix 5X (one was given to a friend as a gift). I have never seen a single sensor drop-out with either of them!
  • I use my 5X for mountain biking and walking/hiking. Screen size is perfect for me. I like the one device does all. Fitness tracking and maps. Maps are great when I'm working away from home to.
  • I use my F5x for trainning and for navigate with trailrun, mtb, cycling and hiking, and I would not change it for a 935 :)

Consider 935 if you don't need maps and you don't want a ruggerized watch.
  • The maps are good but I haven't really found a use for them apart from once where I used them to find a path. I always have the problem I have my phone with me and the larger screen makes it easier to use. The sapphire screen has been amazing - not a single scratch or anything no matter what I have done. The casing still looks great to! Only thing I read was the plastic casing of the 935 makes for a better GPS signal than the 5X. Would love to try that because find the 5X can be pretty appalling in some cities - though good where I live, thankfully.

One question, to snowgar with fenix 5 you can go to a destination putting the cursor where you want to go ?? or do you have to put cordenadas or pre-established sites ??
For example if you are in the mountains and want to go to a site as you enter the address ??

But then you pay 150 euros more just for cartography. I think with those 150 euros I can invest in a garmin edge
