Bluetooth connection to phone issues

In the last week or so the Bluetooth connection to my phone drops and it wont reconnect unless I open up Garmin Connect on my phone. It will then connect. Within half an hour it is disconnected again and wont connect. I have rebooted the phone and the watch and it makes no difference. I know there is no issue with the phone as it stays connected to my car. Anyone else having a similar issue?

  • I have uninstalled and reinstalled the App which is effectively the same as clearing the cache. I could not install a previous version as the apk wouldn't work for some reason. Anyway this is still not fixed for me. It was ok ish for the first day but no good since.

    I am now looking at buying another proper watch and putting the Fenix 5X aside for only when I am walking with my dogs I may put it up for sale if I don't end up using it much and give up on smart watches altogether as they are not good enough yet in my opinion.
