Strava Live Segments (syncing causes crash)

Hey all,

I'm opening a new thread as this seems to be a different issue than the GPX transfer freeze described in this thread:

So here's the description of the Strava issue:

Everytime I try to sync my Strava Segments to the watch (no matter if I do it via Express/USB or GCM/Bluetooth) its screen freezes and it can only be turned off with a long power button press. When turned on again, it is stuck on the initial Garmin triangle screen. The only way to get it to work again is a hard reset (power, start and back button sequence).

Garmin support send me some segments as fit files that I copied directly to the Segments folder of the watch. I can access those on the watch without problems. Still everytime I try to sync my segments the "normal" way, the fenix crashes.

Here are the things I already tried:

- deleted all my segments on Strava
- dis- and reconnected my Garmin and Strava accounts
- un- and reinstalled Garmin Express

None of this helps.

Is anyone else having this issue or do Strava Segements work on you devices? (do a backup before trying ;-)

fw 2.40

same thing for me. syncing Strava segments -> 5X hangs (blue triangle) and only option is hard reset... bummer.

any solutions? I have created a ticket and shared segment examples. I succeeded syncing one segment, but when trying second one - it crashes. I have now done hard reset six times, so bit frustrating. any ideas appreciated.

The beta team told me a fix would be included in the next firmware. Until then I don't see any solution as I have tried a lot of things and nothing helped.

Let's hope the update comes soon. Very disapointed that Garmin is beta testing on customers who paid 750 bucks... again (been there with the fenix 3).

Hi i have my 5X since yesterday. In spite of It was delivered with FW 2.5, i have the same probleme with Strava's segments.

Although the 2.72 Beta Release does not mention a fix for Strava segments, other messages implied we would have expected it to fix a problem like this. Furthermore, people who reported a crash with 2.40 stated that this stopped with 2.72.

Therefore, anyone experiencing a crash when syncing strava segments should consider using the 2.72 beta firmware although Garmin have not confirmed one way or another if this should fix a strava segment crash.
