fenix 5X frozen > Garmin triangle

Hello,

got my 5X yesterday evening. Was very exited. Set it up, connected to mobile app, connected to Express, installed all updates and went to bed. When I woke up this morning the 5X was only showing the Garmin triangle. I can turn it of, but turning it on will just show the triangle again, not more. Tried to hard reset like the fenix 3 light/down/back, but it seems not to work. Connecting to USB doesn't work ether. Always just the triangle.
Is there a different method to hard reset the 5X then with the 3? Does anyone else experience the same?

Yes! After the restart the same. Just the Garmin triangle :(

Strangely all buttons making a noise when pushing and the watch is vibration, but the display just shows the triangle.

Hi,

Yesterday arrived my 5x (2.40), I love it, but today I also got the BTOD (Blue Triangle Of Death). It happened when I switch on the phone pairing, but the wierd thing was I was able to receive notifications from my phone, so the watch with the triangle on the screen it was still working (My watch also drawn extrange things on the screen, see attachment), so I manage to shutdown the watch and finally, when the watch starts again the triangle was gone.

Hey zeair,

could you please check, if the beta was installed correctly? If this is the case and you still get the crash please report it to [email][email protected][/email] as they said this was fixed.

I'm not testing it myself as I`m traveling and don't whant to deal with more hard resets and loose all my settings again.

Wasn't able to see if Strava segments popped up during a run. (It was raining/40 mph wind this morning' treadmill run instead). I can see the segments on the watch but I also disconnected Strava from GC and reconnected. Haven't had any issues since updating to the beta version (knock on wood)

+1 Blue Triangle of Death

Hi guys, just wanted to let Garmin know that I am having the same difficulties. I have sent both Strava and Garmin e-mails linking to this thread. Really hope they can work out a fix soon. So tired of resetting my watch and reconfiguring all the apps, widgets, sensors etc.

I am running the non beta latest firmware and both times I tired to make and download a new course from GC to my 5x, both times my watch got stuck on the "loading maps" screen and my computer said that my 5x wasn't turned on via a pop up screen but yet Express said it was hooked up and even could run a sync on it while stuck on the loading maps screen and my computer saying it wasn't on.
Let my watch alone for a bit but never did get unstuck from the loading maps screen. Had to light off 25 sec reset, blue triangle briefly(eek! Freaks me out!) but then started up both times just fine. Navigate shows both courses were indeed loaded and show the map of each just fine. I have yet to run or bike either of them because it isn't the weekend yet and they are fairly long. Hopefully they both transferred okay completely. But there defiantely is a bug causing the watch to stick upon transfer of courses, IMHO.

Firmware update 2.9

Has anyone tried the new firmware?

Yes. I just did two times. Still don't work.

1. I did the update to 2.9 and rebooted the watch.
2. I removed the watch from Garmin Connect and Garmin Mobile App (just to start from scratch)
3. Added the watch as a new device.
4. Did all the stuff like re-arranged widgets, send heart zones etc...
5. Let the Garmin Connect synchronized (without segments) the watch and then played with it for a while. Worked perfectly.
6. Turned on connection between Strava Segments and Garmin. Checked if Garmis segments were replaced by Strava.
7. Segments appeared on the Garmin Connect to be synchronized.
8. Did it through Garmin Express.
9. Had a coffee watching the triangle
10. Repeated 2-9 but skipped the coffee.

My segments contains Polish national characters. I'm wondering what will happen if I turn off those that have specific characters and let synchronize the rest? Perhaps the watch will work. On the other hand, Garmin is probably loading the most popular segments as well so it would crash anyway. And that means that everyone will face the problem during traveling. The death triangle will be there.

So the answer in my case is NO.

I want to inform the Garmin team that I have same problem as mentioned above. I also have a Polish national characters in my strava segments and ... blue triangle problem. Watch freezes a few minutes after synchronisation process via mobile app with strava segments ON. :(

I just wanted to inform that I have the same problem as mentioned above. After activate strava segments the watch freeze at blue triangle. My strata's segments contain Polish national symbols. v.2.9 still don't work properly :(

That's too bad! It seems to have fixed my issue with the Norwegian characters… So weird that they didn't include all characters while they were at it!

UPDATE: Still not working with Norwegian characters. Those segments show up with "?" and no grade% or distance. Please fix Garmin!

Seems to be national character issue

If I synchronize segments with Czech national character is frozen. If english than it is ok
