fenix 5X frozen > Garmin triangle

i have some hangups witrh my fenix 5x. When i make software reset i see the triangle and must perform hardreset.

This happends when i make HR broadcasting to my EDGE 1000 and when i will finshed that.

Today it hangups after some time in watch modus. I see the clock (its working) but no reaction when i klick on the buttons. Softwareset -> Triangle -> Hardreset.

UPDATE: I have found there is problem on the watch when too many process are working on the watch.
When i have finished my workout with my EDGE 1000, he sent automatically to Garmin via BT. After that i have a smart notification from garmin on my iphone 7, that workout are uploaded and ready to review.
Normaly after this smart notification, i will recived a other notfication that the workout is ready to review on Strava.
This other notfication i didnt see on my f5x. and the watch hang up.

when i open Garmin connect after the EDGE Upload, i see that the f5x make a sync via BT.

i mean the watch crashed when to many process working on that and you will click the button for the menu.

Workaround: I have disabled the BT coennection between Garmin Connect on my iPhone 7 and my watch.

Just got my watch, connected to the app, installed items from express...watched locked up. did option two and it reset....went and did the same thing....locked up again and reset again. It keeps getting locked on the charge screen. Going to handle the updating gently since the watch can't take doing more than ONE THING AT A TIME.


I swear, why Garmin hasn't figure this out yet is beyond me.

Update: I figured it out, custom workouts being uploaded to the watch are crashing it. which is absurd. Why this one thing is the problem makes no sense, but I have to YET AGAIN RESET THE WHOLE WATCH.

Update 2: Figured out a workaround...which I know for a fact did not work with my F3HR. Instead of importing custom workouts via Express, click on each via the app, highlight the device you want to sync the workout to and then if should appear after using a profile you want to use for an activity.

Update 3: Alright, so here's the deal: If your custom activity isn't one created within the last few months (and by that I mean in the year of 2017), the watch crashes, you get the damn triangle of doom and have to start ALL OVER AGAIN. I just went line for line thru each custom workout (via the app) and synced them to my watch. All of those were created earlier this year (Jan 2017). The one I created back in June of 2016 synced...then the watch crashed.

Update 4: The way you sync isn't the issue, I was able to sync all my workouts that were created in 2017 via express. If you have any custom workouts that have anything to do with the year 2016, you're going to have a bad time. You've been warned: IF YOUR CUSTOM WORKOUT HASN'T BEEN CREATED THIS YEAR DO NOT SYNC IT TO THE WATCH!

Received my Fenix 5X today (3 April). Was working well until I uploaded workouts then the watched crashed. I've had to hard reset it eight to ten times now and continues to crash whenever I try to upload any workout. Ones created today and others that were created the last couple of years.

I've uploaded with the app and synching with the cable. Running the latest firmware from garmin express.

Any recommendations?

Have you deactivated Strava Segmemts in GC? Having them turned on causes my watch to crash on every sync (supposed to be fixed in next firmware), while I could transfer workouts just fine. I used the mobile app to send them to the watch.

After resetting it last night I ran with it this morning and the Strava Segments didn't pop up while running and didn't have any issues with the watch. I don't know if the segments were loading or loaded. I'll go back and see what my settings are in GC. I was reading in the beta forum that 2.42 was released a couple of days ago and fixed a lot of the bugs. I'm going to try and install that one and then upload workouts.

Same here, had to do second hard reset today. I received my watch yesterday. So disappointed. I've been waiting for this device many months, just to have Strava segments on a watch and leave my phone home, I bought HRM Bundle and speed/cadence sensors.... I just wasted my money and went for a workout with PHONE - BECAUSE IT WORKS. So sad Garmin.

Just updated to the beta firmware and it seems to work. Just uploaded a couple of workouts and can see the Strava segments. I'll see tomorrow

could you please check, if the beta was installed correctly? If this is the case and you still get the crash please report it to [email][email protected][/email] as they said this was fixed.

I'm not testing it myself as I`m traveling and don't whant to deal with more hard resets and loose all my settings again.
