I think it will be good to have one central place to have the latest news people here about the updated release date. DCR said it looks like early March. The garmin site says 5-8 weeks but thats the default time on all new products. Everywhere I read it says "By end of Q1" which is the end of March. Rei still doesnt have it listed yet either. Has anyone heard anything more specific?
I honestly don't think this means anything one way or another. It seems to follow suite with past devices. These firmware are most likely in regard to Garmin's internal testing; it's just interesting to see how they progress.
My guess is still late March based on what I've been reading, although I have no real insight.

Garmin has (for the Fenix lines) sent out a small batch to begin with prior to the full launch. Likely to test firmwares on a wide(r) scale.

it's the historical pattern. due to Chinese new year shutting down production from around now for another 2 weeks it is true that it is almost impossible we will see the fenix until at earliest the last half of February and if so in very, very, very small quantities. typically the first month of deliveries of a new fenix have been exercises in frustration with very, very small supply drops and not of every model. it will be even more difficult this time around with 3 models + all the versions + the versions with bundles of each model, i ordered on the 12th (about 4 days or so after the announcement) and i'd be surprised to see mine before April, hopefully garmin will prove us wrong but i'm not super hopeful.

I think it varies from year to year depending on production and planning. I preordered f3 2 years ago in mid february, yet i got it first week of march. Now demand for F5 seems bigger than back then so there are probably more orders to backfill these days.

Unfortunately, we do not have a ship date at this time, We currently have the items available for preorder however have yet to receive a confirmed date from the supplier as to when we shall receive them.
At this moment, we are expecting it to be around April however this could change. If there is anything else we can help you with then please contact us.
I suspect other sites quoting early March may be overly optimistic - but I hope I am wrong.
I queried my pre 26th of Jan order and had the same response, I'm planning a series of climbs early May so I'd really like to have had the watch a couple of weeks by then to get used to it but I'm not too hopeful at the moment which is a real bummer.

historically Amazon gets new Garmin devices 2-4 weeks **AFTER** REI and Clever Training. I am not sure where B&H fits in.
For the Aussies out there, I'm ordering a Fenix 5 via the Australian Garmin distributor and I was told the expected arrival date is the 3rd of March. Of course, take that with a grain of salt, but at least that's what they have in their system.
