I think it will be good to have one central place to have the latest news people here about the updated release date. DCR said it looks like early March. The garmin site says 5-8 weeks but thats the default time on all new products. Everywhere I read it says "By end of Q1" which is the end of March. Rei still doesnt have it listed yet either. Has anyone heard anything more specific?
Funny thing... pre-ordered on HRM on Monday a 5 Sapphire and got shipped today. Went to CT to cancel my pre-order from 01/04 after they told me on Monday that they didnt expect to have my SKU yet and they just told me it was supposed to ship tomorrow... Cancelled and now watching the tracking of HRM.
BTW... HRM still shows a lot of SKUs in-stock.
They told me no more 5 Sapphire; the next batch is the end of March.
Week 3 update from Clever Training (USA) just arrived:
"Dear CleverTraining Customer,
We are excited to announce that we have started receiving shipments of various styles of the Garmin Fenix 5! We have additional shipments scheduled to arrive to our warehouse early next week and will continue fulfilling orders as units arrive to our warehouse."
Have a 1/12/17 5S Black/Black Sapphire on order... might be awhile. Ugh.
So I preordered the Fenix 5s on January 14th from Amazon. Does Amazon really receive their preorders a lot later than the other retailers traditionally?
Well I got a shipping notification today from Cotswolds Outdoors for my Fenix 5X so it looks like i'll have it tomorrow, not bad as they have been saying mid april for ages, quite a nice surprise!
Lets hope it arrives after all this anticipation :p
Looks like those with the silver/granite 5 aren't on the initial batch. I see holabirdsports site is showing the slate in stock. Hopefully can start hearing about the silvers next week. :cool:
Really hacked off with Amazon UK, went to bed last night with the status of my order saying it was scheduled for delivery today, and this morning I wake up to:
We’re writing to let you know that the following items have been unexpectedly delayed... Estimated arrival date: March 30 2017 - April 12 2017
It's not the fact that they didn't get stock when they were expecting, it's the way my order status had updated to show that it would be despatched yesterday for delivery today - that's a commitment by Amazon and implies it will be happening, not "but only if we actually get any stock in". I don't believe that it wasn't until 6:59 this morning (when they sent the email) that they suddenly realised they wouldn't be able to deliver today.
If I'd realised that Amazon wouldn't be able to fulfil my pre-order, I'd have picked up on one of the retailers people were posting about yesterday who'd got stock, but not obviously I've missed the boat now.
