Topomaps for Fenix 5X

According to Garmin spec. : "...GPS watch with full-color TOPO U.S. mapping, routable cycling maps and other outdoor navigation features"

Does it mean that colour topo-maps will be available for USA only?

How about EU and other countries?
Is it possible to use routable OpenStreetMap for this model?

    Some maps have the terrain contours, they are included in the map data (if you save a location on the map with the crosshair on the map page, the elevation data is also saved) but not visible on the map (page). I think it's the same as with topo active map europe and cycle map Europe, which are preinstalled on the europea 5x devices.

    Well, the plot thickens. I plugged in my 5X and opened Garmin BaseCamp on my Mac. It recognised the maps on the 5x and pulled over the Topo Aus & NZ Lite v5. It clearly shows contour lines for the same area that I posted earlier on the 5X. There is clearly something going on that is stopping the 5X from showing contour lines.

    Ok, I found the issue. I turned off the basemap and the cyclemap from the map settings on the 5X. The standard base map continues to show until you force a redraw using zoom in/ zoom out or a pan/ zoom. Then, the whole map redraws leaving the Topo maps complete with contours. Very nice :cool:

    ^^^^^^^This. Tried it this morning and went on a trail run and the map feature worked beautifully, contours and all. Overall very happy with the mapping features so far, haven't run into any situations where the map was the limiting factor yet

    My Fenix 5X comes with Topo maps. What is everyone talking about? I'm I misunderstanding this thread?

    Topo maps for Nepal

    Hello,

    Does any one knows of any, preferably good, topo maps for trekking in Nepal?
    I'm going on a trip in 2 weeks and I would buy Fenix 5X if I could put some maps of Nepal on it...

    Does anyone know of a topo map of Nepal I can install on Garmin Fenix 5x?
    I'm going on a trekking trip to Nepal soon and I'm considering buying this watch if only I can load it with some useful topo maps.
