14.71 Change Log Notes:

  • Improved the accuracy and reliability of altitude data.
  • Fixed an issue where one couldn’t edit Wifi networks, if the device had not paired and synced with a Garmin connect account.

Please note, the beta updates released on these forums are not suitable for APAC region devices.

Please send all bug reports to outdoor[email protected], and indicate which model of the fenix 5 Plus series you have in the subject line.

  • I bought this model mainly because I want to have true up between Edge 1030 and Fenix 5 and to be honest its an bulshit functionality,

now its an bulkshit that is not working at all

I want to sell it because it does not work at all

I have one status on Edge 1030 and always diferent on Fenix side

I had saved the zipfiles from previous betas, and 12.00 was in that one (the backdate folder), and I used the ANT/BLE/BT 6.06 included in the update (that didn't take - it is still on 6.11).

There is an update file online: fenix5Plus_1271Beta.zip, but not sure how safe/reliable that link is.

BTW I never advise people to 'downgrade' and almost never do it myself, because you can end up with mix of firmware parts that may not work together (ANT/BLE/BT, GPS, sensor hub, core system). This time it's an exception for me to downgrade because I have spent so much time on fixing FIT files from FW 12.71 and up with missing or invalid data, that I had had enough.

I have only done 3 activities with 12.00 so far, so too early to tell, but no problems with distance anymore. No unexpected large battery drain issues either, again too early to tell, but I'm hopeful.

Warnings: None of the apps / datafields that rely on the latest CIQ work anymore (run power for example). And I don't know if LiveTrack worked with this version (I use another device for that). So be careful if you need newest CIQ or LT.

Edit: Running power works again after re-installing the datafield.

  • I am having a issue as well - trying V12

What are the details on the issue you have? Battery problems, incorrect distance, missing GPS data, altimeter issues or something else? In any case, please report it to the beta team, because as far as I know Garmin doesn't routinely monitor this forum.

Because a firmware downgrade includes a reset to factory defaults, it isn't always clear if it was the old firmware or the reset that fixed a problem. I didn't do a total reset before going back to V12.00 (I was impatient). But it is certainly worth a try before you go back to V12.00

  • I think it's still best to stay with SW12 with ANT / BT / BLE 5.04, GPS 2.70 and Wi-Fi 2.50. I don't have the slightest problem with this combination in my F5x plus!

Totally agree! And the worst thing is the ignorance of Garmin.

  • Do you still have those files? I'd like to downgrade to the combination you have... battery life and bluetooth connection are horrible with the last updates. And also, I'm tech savvy, but I'd like some info on how to downgrade, if you can help. Thanks a lot! Best regards.

  • Can we have a fix for training load and status not syncing from other garmin devices please?

  • But you don't write the most important thing about your watch tip!

  • Yeah, sorry, you're right.. just saw that I don't have the same watch version as you... mine is the F5s plus.
