Fenix 5x plus battery drain after update from 9.76 to 10

As in the object it drain very rapid ,never happened in the past .in only one hour passed from about 81 to 75..

I rebooted for two times.. I don’t have any watch faces

Can someone help me?

  • After many attempts I solved in this way : those steps using windows 10

backupped all fenix 5x plus contents in file system.downgraded to last official source 9.10.after reboot I forced soft reset with pressing for some secs on/off button. After this I connected to Garmin express to update to 10.0. Another soft reset in 10.0, then I copied from my backup all sports .fit files ,rebooted .. the same for setting and rebooted. Now seems to be ok are passed 12 hours and with the same use as usual it seems to be take approx 3% for day with notifications (off only during the night). I hope it can help

so this mean that the issue not come from 10.0 as firmware and the solution is to reset in better way the watch, is the updating procedures that can create some strange behavior

I tried this 35 hours ago and it seems to work!

I now have 92% after 35 hours of regular use. My average is about 0.240-0.277%. So it’s still a bit higher than I used to have, but I think it might get better with a battery recalibration.

  • Good job,in which way you calibrate the battery?

Don’t have a specific solution for battery calibration on Fenix, but generally you just charge the battery full and let it drain completely before you charge it again.

When you charge it though it’s important that you charge it all the way up to 100% + some hours extra. You might have to repeat this process once or twice, and it will add 1-3 complete cycles on the battery but then you get a more true charge indicator.

I think, drain was made by map download in background. Maps are very big and download it use a lot of battery. I have connected my watch on my computer to upload maps. And now, battery seem to be ok. 3% per day.

    1. I am having the same issue, but so far only when doing a run activity while using Spotify. On a 75 minute run, the battery drained 19%. In comparison, a 45 minute strength training activity without music showed no change in battery charge.
  • Same Prblem. After 7.6 FW upgrade my F5+ drains a battery a 30% a day. with 10 FW it losses 45% at day. Call to Garmin and said me to reset the watch.

I have reset the watch, and reintall (uninstall and install) Garmin connect on mi Huawei P20Pro.

Now my battery is normal. More or less 0.3-0.4 per hour.
