Fenix 5x plus battery drain after update from 9.76 to 10

As in the object it drain very rapid ,never happened in the past .in only one hour passed from about 81 to 75..

I rebooted for two times.. I don’t have any watch faces

Can someone help me?

  • I also recognize huge battery drain after my Fenix 5 Plus updated from 9.10 to 10.00. >30% per day. Disappointed

Sorry I can't help you but at least you're not alone.

  • No battery drain on my F5+ so far, 1% in 10 hours without bluetooth and HRM.

I is interesting that there was not a single update for my Fenix 1, 3, and 5+ without complaints about battery drain in the forum.Wink

  • The power draw in my 5x plus is the same on 10.00 as on the previous firmware. Sometimes after an update I have seen high power comsumption in the past. Resetting the watch (holding the light / power button until the watch shuts off) and then turning it back on has resolved this issue for me.

  • No problem for me, but it happened once with my previous VA3M. In the end it was something the phone kept on trying to synch to the watch. Probably a credit card on Garmin Pay because it was not working. After several reboots of the watch and phone, synching with Garmin Express and cable, clearing the app user data and cache on the phone, reinstalling the app, it finally fixed the Garmin Pay problem, and battery drain went back to normal.

I’m having the same problem with my Fenix 5x Plus. I used to average 0,2% per hour (HR on, used as smartwatch, no pulse oximeter, some activity, standard watchfaces) which got me about 18-19 days on one charge, but with the update to 10.00 the battery drain sometimes jumped to 3,0-4,0% per hour instead.

After a couple of restarts and factory resets I’ve gotten it down to 0,4-0,5% per hour. Which gives me about 8-9 days on one charge. So something is still wrong and draining the battery. It seems to be a bug in the 10.00 software?

  • I must be one of the lucky ones... Bought my F5+ Ti straight after launch, and have never seen any battery drains on any firmware versions. (public releases only, no betas). I've never taken any "battery life precautions", all bells and whistles enabled at all times like OHR, bluetooth, notifications etc.etc., and I have a few (quality) CIQ apps installed (watch face, Spotify, Stryd Power/Zones etc.)

I have only briefly been following all the battery discussions around here, but since I've never had any issues myself, I've never dug into the details before. But out of curiousity I downloaded the battery analyzer the other day, and it's estimating battery life according to spec.

The point of this post is not to discredit all of you that are having problems - it's just to show an example that there are watches out there that performs according to spec.

In my situation after a hard reset i show you my point.

  • As said - I wasn’t trying to discredit anyone, I just wanted to add some balance to the discussions.
