Battery drain Fenix 5X plus

I like to bring to anybody's attention that the power drain for the Fenix 5X plus has drastically increased in the standard setup from factory from 5% / day to 12% / day with version 6.00 update. This is shortening your lifetime of the battery due to the increased charging cycles in time. I have asked Garmin to explain this and how to get back to a lower battery drain. Until now no response I think the Fenix lifetime reduction of more than 50% is unacceptable. Pls investigate! Together we are strong.
  • Yep. I have exactly the same experience.

Taky jsem to tak zaznamenal, že pri zaplém oxymetru to víc zere. Zdravím Cesko :)

    Same experience too.

    Hi all,

I am on version 6.0. I am seeing random battary drains. For example last night the watch was on 90% and this morning was on 55%. I have seen this behaviour several times now. I am not using Pulso Ox at all. I am also seeing random restarts during activities and on resume later functionality. I really hope a new firmware upgrade will fix both issues and rather be soon or I will return the damn watch. Last several weeks I didn't have an activity without an issue... And the battery drains make the watch completely unreliable.

It's more or less 10 days since I've been experiencing a higher battery drain on my Fenix 5X plus. From that day my watch couldn't connect any more to my mobile, nor tho the external HR sensor (I've tried also bike speed sensor with no success). Checking in the forums I've found that a new ANT/BLE/BT sw (form 3.20 to 3.30) was released on january the 19th. May be that this new version of the sw is the reason for this higher battery drain; most probably is the reason why I couldn't connect to the mobile and the HR sensor.

When I only use my Fenix 5X Plus as a watch the battery drains at about 1.7% a day.

It's unbelievable... Have you tried to switch the watch on? )
I had 6-8%/day with HR on firmware 6.0, a little less on 6.51, but already cought two abnormal spikes in battery consumption from scratch in the morning (2.2-2.5%/hour).

Yes the watch was on :) And the drain rate has been very consistent. But again, its only while using the 5x Plus as a watch with some back light, chronograph and stop watch use. Note that I went through all the info I could find on how to conserve battery power (no GPS, no constantly changing fields in the watch face, etc). When I need the other features I use them and recharge the battery if necessary.

I live exactly the same thing. This is really random yesterday I went to sleep with 97% this morning the battery has 47%. Normally the battery melts by 10% per day without any activity. It's really sad because I love my watch.
