Fenix 5x Plus - 6.51 Beta Release

Hello Fenix 5x Plus users,

We have new beta software ready for your upcoming adventures!

Fenix 5X Plus: https://www8.garmin.com/support/down...s.jsp?id=14335

Note: Please allow for the updates to propagate across all servers. There is no need to post that the link does not work. It will after a bit of patience.

6.51 Change Log Notes:
  • Fixed an issue where the device was reporting extremely high values for Bike powermeter.

Please note, the beta updates released on these forums are not suitable for APAC region devices.

Please send all bug reports to "][email protected], and indicate which model of the fenix 5 Plus series you have in the subject line.
  • That's why i decided to quit garmin for good. the only version they sell in my region is apac, and with every firmware introducing new bugs, and delay in apac update, i decided enough is enough. i moved on since 2months ago and have never been happier.

While I don't like it being on APAC and that the FWs are slow(er) to be released, but lets face it, you are not that important in the bigger scheme of things. The % of ppl coming to the forums is rather limited and the people who are actually buying these watches are not necessary using it to their full potential (just like our brains :-p)

So.. yeah.. I'm on APAC, I'm (reluctantly in some ways) living with the idiosyncrasies of the Garmin Ecosystem (as like Apple / Google play ecosystem) as much as I can and also because, other platforms has their issues as well (I'm sure) and while Suunto Baro 9 looks great, in terms of feature list, surely a 120hr battery life is not something I need/want vs the flexibility of having CIQ and MAP!!!

Maps is a (to me) a KEY feature which the suunto does'nt have. It's the deal breaker for me in some sense.

Anyways... we heard you & i respect your comment. But for me to quit garmin, and go Wahoo or suunto, it might take a while. (eg: Apple watch one day may just replace the garmin... given time)
  • Yet, you come on a GARMIN forum, read GARMIN topics and posts and then make a concerted effort to sign in and post...you little rascal you ;D

i'm naughty that way ;) hahaha... neah, to be frank, i have to admit, 5x plus is really good product, let down by unnecessary diversification of apac & non-apac. i have let Heath know of my thought sometime ago to his PM.

i log in to see if there's changes. Maybe one day, when garmin remove all the differentiation, then i'll be back ;)
  • OX sleep works only from 00 to 04. Do you know if this correct ?

    This is great news :-)
Anyone know how long it normally takes for beta to go official?

You can search the forum for the release announcements.

We had three major releases, 4.00, 5.00 and 6.00 on August 10(ish - can't find the announcement), September 27 and November 30. That is 2-2½ months apart.

In each case 1-1½ months went from the first beta release to the major release.
  • Works for you LTHR when footpod is always on speed /distance? Do you have the same information in watch and Web?/mobile app

  • what are the possible side effects or problems with this beta?
anyone have problems with other functions?
  • There is hudge battery drain in version 6,51 and 6,00 so I go back to 5,10 and there is no problem.
