Stress level measurement not working

Although i sit totally calm, watch firm on my skin and pulse measurement is working, i often get no stress level measurement.
It just tells me that i have to check the watch position!?!?!
How can it measure my pulse but not the stress level - since that is basicall only the variance between the beats?

By the way.. no matter if i sit there totally relaxed for an hour or am in a hurry at the office, stress level always indicates around 50-70.
As far as i see, that feature is basically another random generator not working as advertised.

Can't count the disappointments with this watch & Garmin...
  • I don't see any particular issues with this feature. I see a lot of gaps in the timeline during the day, but those gaps are mostly corresponding to my movements. When I'm stationary/resting it usually has no problems to detect my stress score.

I can of course not know how correct/accurate it is, but at least I find it quite consistent over time and capable of detecting things like sickness, post-workout stress, hangovers etc. I also find the measurements on my F5+ very much consistent with the VA3 I had before.

I don't have any good explanation to why you are experiencing your issues, but as long as the stress score is based on the OHR sensor we know from other discussion that there could be major differences between individuals.

    Not agree.
I don't mind the gaps, these are logical.
What i mind is that the level is always in the same range no matter if i am super busy or totally calm lying on the couch.
That's why i say i could also use a cheap random number generator from china.
  • What are you not agreeing to? The fact that it's working as expected in my case?

I usually see all-day averages around 10-15, while it may raise to 30-40 (as expected) i.e. when I'm sick or something.
Straight after an exercise I can see values of 70-80 before it gradually decreases back to normal resting values below 20 during the next hour or so depending on duration and intensity of the workout.

Can you show us a screenshot of such a day with low and high stress levels?
I wonder what typical values other users get.

  • Typical day at the office with an interval run in the afternoon and an evening walk with the dog. The big gap you see before the walk was due to charging the watch.ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1402113.png
  • Either that, or I find more joy in what I do ;)
  • Here is my typical day at the office.
Seems my life is more exciting? ;);)

Jeez, what are you doing all day? Taming lions?

Can you please show your diagram as comparison?
  • This is the highest overall score one this week. I woke up, setup my stuff in transition early, then volunteered at body marking/transition entry at the race I was doing for an hour and a half. Then I did the race. Then I sat around for a bit eating my delicious free BBQ and beer. Then I packed up my stuff, changed into normal clothes, packed up our camp trailer and hooked it up to my truck. Then drove home for an hour and unpacked everything. My normal daily ones where I am at work all day are usually around 20ish. ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1402228.jpg
