Hrm strap

Hello,
i am interested in buying the hrm tri because of triathlon but my training activities for open water is on the swimming pool.i read that i cant use it because of the non chlorine resistance.i know i can buy the the hrm swim but both straps is too much expensive. Is there any solution?or have you to suggest me another strap for triathlon activities including the swimming pool??
  • i would like to thank you all for your replies..i am in the thought of buying the hrm tri because i need it more on cycling and running in order to be better.
  • Sbassios the HRM-Tri does have the advantage that it will store the HR and download later if you lose connection with the watch so if it is similar price to the current HRM-run then you may as well get it even if you don't plan to do Open water swimming

Sorry but this is nonsense. HRM tri has this feature.

Buy HRM tri and you will be satified in all disciplines.

  • esselite what's nonsense? you are saying its bull but then agreeing with him? I think you might have read what he said wrong. He is saying that the HRM-Tri is better than the HRM-Run because it will store HR data that you can then download later, therefore if you can find the Tri for a similar price as the Run it would be a good deal.

I find that I neither want nor need HR data from my swim workouts. It just isn't useful. I wear my HRM-Tri for the swim portion of races and it is super comfy and works well. I bought the HRM-Tri/HRM-Swim pack and have only used the HRM-Swim a handful of times.
  • Browner40 thanks for that - at least somebody read my post :)
  • Hello all,
yesterday i bought the hrm tri..i have some questions...1.in cycling activity it shown only hr and nothing else,right?2.if i dont use the hrm strap the watch says searching..is there any hope to have battery drain because of searching the hrm strap??3.if i want to measure the vo2max what to do?only running?and how much km?
  • .1.in cycling activity it shown only hr and nothing else, right?

    Right.

2.if i dont use the hrm strap the watch says searching..is there any hope to have battery drain because of searching the hrm strap?

    Don't worry about battery.

3.if i want to measure the vo2max what to do?only running?and how much km?

There are two separate vo2max values. One for running and one for cycling. To get running vo2max you need to run with HR data, not necessarily the HRM-Tri strap. The built-in optical will do as well. To get cycling vo2max you need cycling activities with heart rate AND power data.

  • I am not worrying about the strap battery but for thr fenix 5+ as it has a little problem with the battery.when you mean power data for cycling you mean the speed and cadence??
    thank you in advance

I meant the battery of the F5. Don't worry about it. It will not get depleted because of "Searching".

No. Power data from a power meter. Like for example this one: https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/p/573589
  • Today i tried the hrm tri in swimming pool with my trisuit and after 1700m of swimming the calories was only 271 instead of 380 thw watch showing before i close the activity.Whats the truth about the calories??

    ??????
