  • Unbelievable! This bug is still here : https://forums.garmin.com/forum/on-t...9-20-from-8-00 ! i'm thinking to return this watch!
  • Nothing to address the post-activity battery drain and other battery level issues? I'm seriously hoping there's an undocumented fix in here...

And the installation instructions still aren't updated to take into account the way the watch now mounts, especially for Mac.
  • Anyone wanting to activate the Abnormal Heart Rate Alert feature, go to the heart rate widget, hold the middle (up/settings) button, then select Heart Rate Options.

Note that this will notify you of an abnormally high heart rate (you set the threshold) while you are inactive, e.g. sitting still, not walking around etc.

Mac is not supported - says quite clearly you need a PC. Just because it worked before does not mean its supported. I understand you need 3rd party software to have it work on the mac, no way in the world is garmin going to support that.
  • To say it "says quite clearly you need a PC" is true, but only because Garmin have never updated that boilerplate text. They've previously fully and openly support updates via OSX but have never changed that text, which isn't even accurate as Windows 2000 (and some later versions) won't mount the f5+ either without add-ins.

All they need to say is that "you may need to install a third-party application..." or words to that effect, they don't have to name specific apps or support them. To not do so is just lazy.

it's not lazy. it's the correct thing to do. if they did that it would create a support nightmare. - they'd end up trouble shooting issues with the 3rd party software.
  • I'd agree with you if there was any evidence that they'd actually reviewed and considered the statement, but they clearly haven't as it is inaccurate. Even an explicit statement such as "Installation of this beta using OSX is not currently supported" would show some consideration.

And if supporting third party software is really an issue, how are they expecting users of older "compatible" versions of Windows that require 3rd party extensions to open zip files to install the betas?
  • The problem with racing a previous activity ist still not solved. On the upper field (time behind or ahead) you will find no entry during activity.

Still there. Also, I got pretty high consumption during activity, but that may be a fluke. Between that and post-activity battery drain my watch used over 50% battery in less than a day with mere 5 hours of GPS+Galileo (it was at 60% after the activity, but got to 50% over next few hours).

  • I am afraid to mention that the connexion issues are not fixed with iOS. Still have to manually force the connexion from iOS after the watch is disconnected for a few time. Very annoying!
