GPS accuracy very bad !!

Hi,

Tried yesterday the GPS for the first time (GPS + Galileo) and I was very disappointed but the quality of the trace. I am in Paris so in city but I ve never a so bad GPS. In the same area, my Ambit 2 is perfect and following my route but with the Fenix 5X plus, I have more than 40 meters error sometimes !!

I can't understand how a watch costing 4 times a GPS watch can be so bad !! Is there something to do ? I sync it with Garmin connect mobile to have last sat data.

May be it can be a technical problem with the watch... Is there a widget to check GPS accuracy ?

Thanks
  • C'mon, people, if there was no problem with GPS then this conversation would never have taken place.
The problem exists and this is crazy to wait for so long for it being fixed, on such an expensive device.
I tend to think, that this is hardware problem considering all firmware updates fix nothing.

I was affraid also it could be an hardware problem... I hope it will not be the case otherwise, Garmin should recall al their watch or provide a voucher for the next version...

Wait and see. I don't understand why Garmin is not communicating about it. This watch was marketed as a very accurate watch with Galileo, they should bring us some words and not only "it's because you are surronding by buildings".

I was 5895m altitude - there were no buildings there! :-D

  • what a useless piece of rubbish. it[s a shame as it's the nicest looking unit on the market

LOL, this track is relatively nice, most of the time I have much worse results )))
  • hahahah! I'm laughing hysterically as Garmin has stolen £800 from me and I'm too distraught to cry!
  • Actually, I checked the track from my Sigma Pure GPS bike computer - it is about the same bad quality, "drunk" and screwed.
So, perhaps, it is not absolutely Garmin GPS fault, I am not sure.
I'd like to check the same track with for example Polar V800, which is known for its accuracy, but I have none :(
