Here we go again! Today while i'm coming at home from the sea, i tried for the first time navigation and voilà: altimeter was totally wrong! When i was near my home that is about 110m asl, altimeter reported 75m! I tried to calibrate it but when i set correct altitude, it started to count slowly to calibrated altitude like my Fenix 5X did; altimeter was set on continous calibration. Luckily this time i bought it on Amazon, so if things don't change quickly, i'll return it and i'll stay with my Spartan Ultra that never had this bug!
I tried also today a "track me" activity from my home (110m) to the sea (0 m) and when i'm arrived altimeter was still at 40m and still counting 40, 39, 38 ecc... i tried with barometer set to "altimeter mode", "auto mode" and i tried also to turn off continuous calibration of altimeter but the result is the same!
I had this issue on my new 5 Plus, but only when I wear the watch on my left wrist, where the altimeter port is facing straight in the the passing air. Putting the watch on my right wrist or mounting it to the handle bars of my bike solved the problem.
I experienced this issue also if I driving my car if there is a quick elevation change. Also if I try to calibrate altimeter after a swim, it doesn't calibrate but altimeter starts to count until set altitude...I think it's the same problem reported here:
To me, make my altitude profile(and the watch) totally useless! I have reported this bug many times to beta team but nothing... I reported this bug also yesterday for confirm them that bug is still here also in latest beta, no answer.
renton82 When you say "driving your car" I worry about that. Is the watch set to auto mode? I can see the watch getting confused while driving. Try locking in Altimeter mode and see what happens.

Just done all possible test : during activity with barometer set to altimeter mode, continuous calibration on or off; barometer set to auto and continuous calibration set on or off; watch in widget mode without start any activities and barometer set to altimeter or auto, no difference, altimeter goes totally wrong on when there is fast ascent/descent.

Are you looking at the widget or the activity after you’ve stopped? Cause I’ve always have had a delay with the widget telling me my current alt. I just chalk that up to the watch needing time to read then graph the current alt. Are you expecting the widget to be real time?
