Surface Interval on standard Garmin watch faces for MK1 descent request.
Let's not drag away with No Fly. The OP did not ask for that. Discussion on it is not helping!
The OP was asking an option showing surface interval on the watch face.
I agree with OP to add it and I…
Hey everyone, there has been some good information posted in this thread and thank you for staying on topic. I sent Rudy another PM so a feature request can be created. If anyone else would like to be…
My two cents on this. It would be nice to be able to display both SI and/or the No Fly on the watch screens. Though I agree with Odie that if the person is so clueless to plan a flight within the No Fly time, they are probably not going to pay attention to the field on the watch face. For those that do pay attention, it would be a great addition. Now if you could work with some of the watch face devs to add this to the custom watch faces as well.

I agree with OP to add it and I would like it to be a selectable data for customized watch face as well!

I don’t care what happens to No Fly.
My point is that it isn’t remotely a substitute for Surface Interval as was suggested by one of the posters.
I’ve been asking for better access to Surface Interval for some time and I’m glad that notice has finally been taken.
Thank you, Rudy and Nate!

And until they have an actual SIT data field, then use the No Fly as a substitute if you’re not afraid of doing Kindergarten type math after the 1st hour.
Otherwise, rearrange your Widgets where all you have to do is hit the Up or Down button once to see your SIT time.
Not overly difficult.
Why not offer both and let the individual user decide what they want to display on their watch. Some people may want SIT, another may want No Fly, and someone else may want both. Seems if you are going to do the development to offer one, the other should be little extra development work.
Yes, nothing wrong with both. There should be as many options from a diving standpoint to enhance the experience for the diver. But let’s be realistic ladies and gentlemen, the feature development for the Descent Mk1 is dead. They’ll add, a few fixes from the 5x updates but I doubt we’ll see anything else from a “Diving” development. From 4.00 to 6.00 they added CCR (which was virtually useless for 99% of the diving community) and really no new features from a diving standpoint, just fixes. From 6.00 to 8.00 (almost 7 months), they made 2 Diving fixes and no improvements.
Garmin’s focus right now is on the next version of this watch and maybe then, they’ll take some of these suggestions that everyone here and in other topics have mentioned.

It is that first hour when SI is the most important. No Fly is completely useless for that hour.
I'm lucky that I dive with other computers, ALL of which display SI right there on the screen. I'd hate not to have that.
I don't know why this has grown so complicated. A dive computer must give easy access to Surface Interval data. If the Garmin Descent is to be accepted as a real dive computer and not just a toy or a backup it must break away from its modified sports watch image.
