I have the same problem as others, the device is up to date with the software bit freezes several times per round. Is there Anu permanent solution to this problem yet?

My Garmin Z80 rangefinder is unreliable and has the tendency to crash. The device will be fine for a few rounds, then on some rounds the Garmin Z80 will crash for a few rounds.
When the Garmin Z80 rangefinder crashes, the screen will either freeze and self reboot. At other times the Garmin Z80 will just stay frozen. When the Garmin Z80 doesn't reboot, I will have to force reboot by pressing the on/off button.
The Garmin Z80 rangefinder is so unreliable that I carry my old Bushnell as a backup. And because the Garmin Z80 rangefinder reboot time is around 30-45 secs, it means two things (i) I will have to whip out my Bushnell or (ii) if i didn't have a backup, have faith in my ability to estimate distances.
Great idea, but not well executed, especially for a device that costs this much. My golf buddies never fail to be impressed by the design and the functionality of the device, but I cannot recommend them to buy it. In fact I've had to actively dissuade my friends from buying the device until Garmin sorts out the bug.

I've had my Z80 for about 6 weeks and I'm having a similar issue (Software version 4.0)
I'm using ENGLISH on software version 4.00 and have this issue constantly. The device will completely shut down between holes (last round this happened 12 or 13 times). The round before it rolled back to some boot mode and was unusable until I got home and did a hard reset.
Garmin, don’t let your customers down!
