Very disappointed in approach, chipping, putter stats from CT10 sensors

Given that there is no way to tell the system the gps coordinates of the flag, the approach, chipping, and putting stats you can see afterwards in Garmin Connect or Garmin Golf are not very useful.

Here is what I want to know:

1) What is my average distance to the hole for my approach shots (all and over just GIR)

2) What is my average distance to the hole for my chip shots

3) What is my average distance to the hole for my 2nd putt (if needed)

This is all impossible without the system knowing the precise GPS coordinates of the hole.

This has a very easy fix: When you get on the green have the screen on the S20 show two options i) Putt and ii) Hole.  When a player hits a putt, they press the Putt button (so the GPS location of the ball can be saved) and when the player gets to the hole they press the Hole button (so the GPS location of the hole can be saved).

When I bought my watch and the sensors it didn't even occur to me that this would not be implemented into the software.  Your competitors Arccos, Shot Scope, and Game Golf have this implemented into their software.  Please fix this.

  • Thanks Cody. I am already fully aware of all that. However it all worked ok on the S20 but Fenix 6x accelerators etc must be inferior as I was told in no uncertain terms by Garmin that I needed to buy CT10 sensors and would also then get the benefit of more accurate data for chipping and putting. That has proven to also be incorrect and Garmin is not doing anything about all the great suggestions that have been made to improve putting data accuracy!!!!

  • Wow! The location of the hole is a guess, even using the watch to change the position of the hole, which you can't do when you are standing on the green. So that guess renders the putting data pretty much useless.

Your best tip is to go and buy another piece of Garmin gear, the Approach Z82 which retails for $1049 here in Australia, and then hold up the group behind ours by measuring the distance to the cup with a laser. And then what do you do with that measurement?

What's more extraordinary is that Garmin can put a laser and GPS on a helicopter on another planet, and you're telling us to knock up an Excel spreadsheet!

  • Extraordinary response, Cody.

I own and use the Garmin Approach S62 and whilst I am very disappointed with lack of an accurate pin placement and statistics, I'm hardly going to stop using an $800 watch.

It is obvious to anyone on the forum that, rather than promote ShotScope, I have used it to point out that a start-up company like that can sell a $200 watch that does what a gargantuan company like Garmin's watch can't.

But nothing is done about the S62's deficiencies other than to keep kicking the issues down the road and moderate posts when they don't suit Garmin's narrative.
