I can not perform Search Out of my State and locate "a known address" .

Even after looking on the map to ensure it exist. I can't get known cities (by name, out of state) to appear after inputting the correct information by Name, Providence, Zip Code, or States. I have also used the highways federal, State, etc names in lue of the street names. The only way I have found to navigate, is to place a WayPoint at the address. The search function works OK within my state boundaries however.

Am I doing something incorrect?

I use the State name and confirm is correctness.   I have done the same with the city name by itself.

Confirmed the newest Zip Codes. ETC....

  • I have this same issue on the new Montana 760i. I'm in Ohio and all I get is Ohio. How are you clearing the local information? I can do what you suggest from the cities prompt and it works but not the address.

  • I have had to retrieve the ZIP CODE from Google Maps in cases that I could not get the app to work also.  Use only the first three letters (sometimes four) of the street, for the search might help as well.

I try to get the CITY and the STREET NAME to go thru before using the numerical address.

The Addresses app. is just not very friendly.  It doesn't work at all like the 700i Owners Manual describes on page 22.

  • How are you clearing the local information? I just thought over from the beginning.

  • Out of the three apps: Addresses, Intersections, and Cities. Only the Cities app has "Select Map" and "Spell Search" on the first menu. I select the "Use Best Maps" and then do a spell search for Springfield. This generates a nice list from across the country. Neither Addresses and Intersections have the Select Map or Spell Search on first level menu. Search area is listed as Ohio for me. Any attempt to change it by changing state, city, or postal code does nothing but search Ohio only. Very frustrating to have a GPS that can't even do a basic address lookup. I just bought it, I'm thinking I may need to send it back.

  • Please try using the "Search Near" function on the Find menu and choose a location closer to the destination address you are searching. Then, search for the address through the Address option on the Find menu.

    1. Go to the Find (magnifying glass)
    2. Touch the menu button (three horizontal lines)
    3. Select Search Near
    4. Use the available options to choose a location that is closer to the destination address than you currently are
    5. Use the Address option from the Find menu to enter the destination address
    • Go to the Find (magnifying glass)
    • Touch the menu button (three horizontal lines)
    • Select Search Near
    • Use the available options to choose a location that is closer to the destination address than you currently are
    • Use the Address option from the Find menu to enter the destination address

Having tried this, it does work in many cases! It seems to make SEACHING faster.

I believe most of the problem(s) I’m experiencing is in the alfa-numeric “SEARCH FUNCTION” attempting to use abbreviated (words/street number, names) information in a database.

I find when this situation exist/happens, I believe, I just need to get out of the entire search, and start over from the beginning.

If all else fails, I will look up the ZIP CODE in Google on my phone, and use it as a backup in lieu of the city, state, or province.

Example: Richmond, Va “3101 Maury St.” Ma"... streets appear in search but, "Mau"... results in asking for another search.  By the time you spell it out, you're out of options.

By the way, Matthew Fontaine Maury was a worldwide navigator.

This is very frustrating as by now I am searching not only the “BEST MAP” & then CN North America NT 2025.20 (TOP LISTING) without positive results.

And again, Thank you all for helping resolve this issue.  I still have learned a lot and this makes my 710i more valuable to me!

  • Thanks, this did work and I was successful in finding the address I was seeking. To a point made earlier in this chain, seems like this info should be added to the manual because the current instructions do not appear to be sufficient.
