Montana 700i Doesn't follow route

Is anyone else having issues with their Montana not following the waypoints on a route?  I just got back from a 1200 mile trip, split into two routes with approximately 6 waypoints within each route.  When I would visit a waypoint, the Montana would then calculate directly to the end point of the route.  I then had to stop navigation, and reselect the route to continue.  It's a pretty frustrating behavior.

And it's still shutting down randomly....

I posted to the product support page.  we'll see if anything comes of it.

  • I replied to their product support request from .  Hopefully they can find something in the logs to help.  The reply also included some detail on the random shutdown issue that occurred during the trip.

  • It looks like I'm getting a New Unit and Mount.  It's hard to fault that approach.  To be continued...

  • It won't fix it.

I'm on my fourth exchange unit from them.

  • Just an update here.

I replaced my mount with one they sent me along with a rubber bushing upgrade kit.

RMA refurbed unit exhibited same behavior.  Still shuts down randomly, and still will truncate route and skip via points, navigating directly to destination.

I finally got around to  resending the requested info to .  Hopefully, they can use it to get to the bottom of this.  I really think the unit is getting locked up while recalculating.  I seriously doubt that it's a power issue at all.

The important thing here is that they are still working on it.

    More updates as they materialize.

  • As an update, I have tried several different types of routes, from importing fully calculated routes from basecamp to importing direct routes, to creating routes on the unit itself.  In each example the 700i has produced each error described above, skipping to the final point and shutting down during and off course recalculation.

I am just waiting for them to announce a solution at this point.

  • I wanted to circle back and update this today.  Yesterday, I was able to take my first real ride of the year.  I used my 700i and XT2 to navigate to 5 alerted waypoints on a route, with a few non-alerted shaping points thrown in.  The route was about 6 hours and 400 miles.

The 700i went all day without shutting down, and without 'jumping' to the end.

Now if we could get them to allow us to reset the ODO without a factory reset, and maybe fix the distance to next to be something useful, or add distance to via.

    It is running 23.30

I'm running CN North America NT 2026.1 ALL US
