Sending a route or waypoint to Montana

I’m not entirely sure what you’re asking but, I created a waypoint on the Explore app on my phone and synced it to my 700i. The new waypoint showed up almost immediately. The sync process continued on for some time for the tracks, etc but the waypoint was there right away.

Yes, I've done that, when both the phone and the 700i were connected to a network. My question is, is that possible when there is no pine connection or wifi?

I could be wrong and frequently am but, if there is no WiFi or phone connection (via Bluetooth) I don't see how data could get from the Explore app to the GPSr.

Turn the Data connections off on your mobile phone and test it, and let us know what you find!

Did you have any luck doing this?  I have a similar need, in that if a user is in a non-mobile coverage area with the montana 750i - can i send them a waypoint from the explore.garmin.com login via the iridium network

No, you cannot. Anything marked on the map (waypoints or routes) at explore.garmin.com must be sync-d in order to reach the device. You get a warning about this when you mark a waypoint on the map.

You CAN, however, send an arbitrary location (optionally chosen on the map) to the iR device. To do so:

In the left sidebar, locate the header for the user. Click the message icon at the right end of the header bar. (If you hover over it, it says "Messaging Options".) This opens another option bar. Click the rightmost icon, which looks like a location pin with Send under it. (If you hover over it, it says "Send a location...".) This opens a pop-up where you can either enter coordinates manually OR pick a location on the map. You can also add a text message to accompany the location. Click the Send button in the pop-up.
