I have a problem with profiles.

I usually back up the profiles to protect myself against failures or data loss.

Today I couldn't, some files with Chinese, Korean or Japanese characters appeared, I don't know which language, and the copy was cancelled.

Attached is a picture of the intruders.

These files cannot be renamed, copied or deleted.

Any help or suggestions?

  • Garmin express is not running. So I do not think, that there is a sync running. I checked the montana drive with chkdsk H: and no errors were found.

    C:\Windows\system32>chkdsk H:

  • I'm out of ideas. Unless somebody else chimes in, you'll have to depend on tech support.

  • Hi, I see that this topic is still active.
The solution was to do a reset and everything was fine, although restored to factory defaults.
I don't know if the procedure is known: I copy below the message.

How to Reset Montana 700 Series

Note: The Montana 700i and 750i back up data to your Garmin Explore Website account via the Garmin Explore App. You can still back up data with BaseCamp though.

If removing data is desired to eliminate corrupt data or free up space, see Related.
    Performing a Full Reset

        Power off the Montana
Press and hold Power until the LED becomes red, then release
Double-tap Power to start the reset
The screen will indicate it is resetting and display the progress, then shut off
Power the Montana back on normally
        Select your language
The Montana 700i and 750i will display the option to Activate or Skip, select Skip. You will then need to re-pair and sync with the Explore app

The Montana is now reset and ready for use.

  • Hello,

I'm sorry to tell you, but this solution does not help. Like with a standard reset via the menu, after that the "crazy" profile's are gone, but after switching off and on the system again they are back again.

    regards

    Andreas

  • yes, I did some day's ago. And I already got a new Montana 700i :-)
