There's no reason Garmin couldn't manufacture a carbineer style mount. All they would have to do is create a bracket that attaches to the 4 points on the side of the device.
Apparently none of the design specialists at Garmin believed anyone would want to carry this device on thier person. They all (foolishly) believed everyone would only use the Montana 7x0 in or on a vehicle…
I received the Maxpedition TC-3 pouch today. It attaches to the molle on my Maxpedition Remora Gearslinger and it fits the Montana 7x0 perfectly. Here are some pictures with the Montana 700 inside it.…
There are a lot of tips now to get by, I always prefer to have my gps handy and I use a photographer's vest on which I have hung several cases according to my needs, for my gps, phone, on-board camera etc. I find it more practical than putting everything in the backpack that will have to be removed each time you need an accessory, I just have the bag for food and various accessories.
i just bought a strong/tough lanyard and hang it over head and shoulder, works for me, just don't have any sharp objects in can bounce against while hiking (ie belt clips, knives, multitools
it must be heavy to carry, it's still heavier than an Oregon
well, you have more screen realty, you have more CPU, you have more power, sure its going to be heavier, if you want a gps to last a day, youne battery power, if you want a higher resolution, you need more power, if not, buy an oregon
Moderated to remove disparaging remark.
I had a 750 and sold for the Montana 700, and the weight doesn't bother me at all, I have the backpack full and it's not an extra weight that will slow me down
