There's no reason Garmin couldn't manufacture a carbineer style mount. All they would have to do is create a bracket that attaches to the 4 points on the side of the device.
Apparently none of the design specialists at Garmin believed anyone would want to carry this device on thier person. They all (foolishly) believed everyone would only use the Montana 7x0 in or on a vehicle…
I received the Maxpedition TC-3 pouch today. It attaches to the molle on my Maxpedition Remora Gearslinger and it fits the Montana 7x0 perfectly. Here are some pictures with the Montana 700 inside it.…
still good, shell of excellent quality, and a solidity foolproof
I got my 700i Gizzmovest today; it's cool! Very rigid.
I bought this which works rather nicely.
and it fits in easily without moving afterwards?

It's OK and you need to adjust the straps to make it so the device slides in and out easily. It holds the device with the antenna exposed and pointing upwards.
I suspect it will be a matter of personal opinion.
Thanks for this info,
I found some and I will try it, personally I use a 700 coupled to an Inreach Mini, already I have less problems for pointing to Iridium, but it is on the practical side and to put my device in safety that I am looking for the best compromise, I also have a silicone case around the 700, but the cover is to have it at hand quickly.

I think you have discovered the best solution.
after various tests, this is the one that seemed to me the most practical,
I had invested in a 66i when it was released and I did not have any good feedback at all, yet I told myself that without a touch screen it would be less sensitive to bad conditions such as rain, but the coupling with the The phone I had at that time, an S10 +, was catastrophic, I don't know if I have too many contacts in my directory but the search for contacts from Explore was very long and even managed to stop the S10 + , in the meantime I changed my phone to an S20 and it was the same, so resale of the 66i and purchase of a 700 coupled with an Inreach Mini,
this Mini, I can put it in a phone armband attached to my arm, possibly with a battery and a short cord for recharging,
and this way on the arm it will almost always be vertical for the reception of Iridium signals, which might not be the case with a 700i or 750i, when it is held in the hand in a horizontal position to watch its course or other function,
and I paired this mini with my S21 Ultra and with the 700 to have the notifications of receipt of messages easily readable with the large screen,
there are some problems with the 700, for example sending a new message, it takes a long time to do a search, in this case I go through Earthmate to send a message to this new contact, and the conversation will then appear in the "Inreach" section of the 700, what is weird is that I no longer have problems with the coupling of the Mini and the S21, Earthmate is easy to use and no longer poses any problems for me as I have had with Explore and the 66i.
have a good day.
Thank you for sharing information about the tests.
