Are there any news? My fenix is not the newest, but to my understanding it was never implemented, even the newest fenixes still lags options to communicate via inReach Mini2.
What is needed is very simple: As soon as the watch triggers fall detection, hearth rate goes below set threshold... it send pre formatted message to given number(s) (not Garmin emergency centre) with simple text "(Fall/Hearh rate/...) trigger activated at (date + time in UTC) on position (latitude + longitude)." Then it is on the receiving person to evaluate the situation and make necessary actions (because the person was instructed by myself before departure, knows approach options, knows terrain, has equipment...). All this without mobile phone as it is very fragile and we must assume it gets damaged during the incident.
Garmin has all the HW + SW possibilities to implement this functionality, because the GPS and time needs to be added by inReach and the trigger type needs to be added by the watch.
I'm often in remote areas and I have never been in situation that I’m conscious and need to push SOS button. But I know few stories of people that would have survived if functionality like described above existed.
It is fully understood that this forum is not feature request, not support forum, but this is the only place I'm aware of that is at least randomly visited by Garmin so there is still hope.
