My new Inreach Messenger added some random people from my contacts. I want to delete them but they appear with a 'locked' icon in the iOS app. How do I edit the contacts?

About an hour ago I turned off InReach access to my iOS contacts in iOS settings. Now I see the random dude has disappeared. That must be the answer.

I too had these "random old contacts" show up on my inReach Mini 2. After trying the tips in this thread to no avail, I noticed that when Garmin Messenger originally synced with my phone contacts…

Hi, Leslie.

My InReach Mini 2 has 2 locked contacts that I cannot delete. From the looks of them, I believe this InReach was purchased on a company account, had the contacts loaded and locked, then was returned for refund to REI.

I have tried deleting the contacts from the device, didn't work, of course. I also tried from my Garmin account, but they aren’t listed. I also tried resetting the device, which also doesn’t help.

I really DO NOT WANT these contacts on my Mini. Please help.

This worked for me. When I deleted the welcome messages in the messenger app, the contacts actually disappeared from my inreach mini 2 device, after a couple syncs.
