Micro SD cards - so which ones actually do work?

Hello All,

So clearly there is some *very* finicky firmware in these units and getting micro SD cards recognised is complete and utter pot luck!!

I've tried a box fresh Sandisk 512GB Extreme Pro card with zero success, despite formatting it in every format and cluster size known to man. Tried (re)inserting the card with the unit powered off and powered on. Make no odds. Just not recognised at all. Card itself is totally fine and checks out in  ValiDrive et al.

Therefore before I get into testing the other bunch of SD cards I have kicking, I just wanted to ask quickly to save hours of grief...

What micro SD cards actually *do work* with the wonderful firmware Garmin's engineers and software subcontractors have foisted on us ;-) ?

    I have reported this issue to local (Netherlands) support, but haven't really had any response to it. So not sure if there's actually a ticket for this issue.

    But I fully agree that anyone commenting here and experiencing the same issue should report it to Garmin support. The more reports the more likely the issue gets investigated and eventually fixed.

    I guess it's a bit of a downside of the outdoor handheld products, there are simply fewer users compared to like Fenix 8, so less people that will report if there's an actual issue. Aside from the fact that many of the issues we report here should have been caught by Garmin themselves in the first place...

    Several months have passed, but there are still issues with the support for SD memory cards on the GPSMAP H1 device! Except for memory cards with a capacity of 32GB or less, which can be fully recognized, there is still a high probability that memory cards larger than 32GB cannot be recognized. The official promotional materials state that it supports memory cards with a maximum capacity of 1TB. This is simply a joke. Even though the firmware version has been upgraded to V8.08, this issue has not been resolved. My SanDesk 128BG memory card still cannot be recognized. GARMIN is really a disappointment!

    For me, the Garmin H1i+ does not recognize the 128gb Sandisk high endurance microSDXC (brand new, straight out of the package) if inserted while powered off. If I insert the card while powered on, I get a message that says "loading maps"... and the device becomes non-responsive and warm to touch =/
