Persistent LiveTrack Failure on GPSMap H1

Dear Garmin Support Team,

I am seeking assistance regarding a persistent malfunction of the "LiveTrack" function on my GPSMap H1.
The feature has been entirely non-operational since the time of purchase.

I have dedicated time to advanced troubleshooting, which I re-performed yesterday.
The following steps were completed, but the issue remains:

1. Garmin Connect Reinstallation: I completely uninstalled and reinstalled the Garmin Connect application on my smartphone.
2. LiveTrack Activation: I ensured the "LiveTrack" function is explicitly toggled on within the Garmin Connect app settings for the H1 receiver.
3. Device Reset and Update: I performed a full factory reset of the GPSMap H1 device, reconfigured all settings, and confirmed the latest firmware is installed.

Crucially, when I initiate activity recording on the receiver (which successfully obtains a GPS fix/satellite connection), absolutely nothing happens.
LiveTrack does not start, and the feature simply remains inactive.

  • Has this issue been investigated, and does Garmin have any user guidance on how to resolve it?

  • I took this hunting and expected to have a simple tracks app interface.  I don't even have an app.  I mean I can get out of the woods but tracks is a big help.  I have had a few GPSMAP models and thought this one was going to be great.  Its way too complicated, missing apps, and is a poor fit for the average hunter.  I am truly disappointed as i took the Garmin name to the mat and spent a lot of money for a product that is bad.  I should not have to spend hours troubleshooting issues on a new product.  There should be an app for simple tracks that leaves tracks and allows me to follow out of the woods.  Garmin you stepped in it on this one.  Again very disappointed-

  • The issue persists in version 6.04.

The LiveTrack feature simply does not work for me. I have not received any response from Garmin—neither here on the forum nor in reply to the formal complaint I submitted.

In my country, if a manufacturer or service provider fails to respond to a formal complaint within 30 days, the claim is legally deemed accepted in favor of the consumer.

It seems Garmin is leaving me with no choice but to return the device, citing "non-conformity of the product with the contract" (specification), as a key advertised feature is non-functional.

  • You might also want to include the Ascent Planning feature that Garmin has advertised for months now on the website's specifications/features of the unit since the unit has been released (same for the new eTrex Touch Gen 2). The feature is nowhere to be seen and no real answer from Garmin regarding this ("we are looking into it" is all that they have stated).
