how many .img files can be used at time?

I am just experimenting with some map files and now I am not sure how many .img files I can have active at same time. So far I did not find any infos in manuals. Or how is the use of the .img files limited otherwise?

  • OK, yes right, I just renamed those TopoActive files, so they do not interfere and now I am carrying on with maps I am used to work with and seems to work.

  • just want to inform abt my solution for now:

renamed the 'resident' TopoActive maps on the device from .img to .imx so they are now out. They were of some problematic quality anyway.

    Using MapSource software

I did create maps covering whole world. in 18 .img files.

Those 18 files take more then the space on single 32G card however today, the amount of data in OSM origin is rising.

Those I have either on 2 SD cards à 32G, or alternative on one 64G card formated to fat32 by external sw.

The 18 files are correctly read in without problems, also the world map preinstalled on the device is correctly loaded and no  crashes or some other problems experienced.

Earlier crashes and other problems were identified as defects in the .img files. and some kind of collisions with the resident TopoActive maps.

So I meet requirements of  our org to have whole world ready for use at any time.
