GPS Software Update

This is for the GPS chip itself. I've never seen release notes on the chip software. I suspect it comes direct from the chip manufacturer.

Never had a problem with one of these updates. Never saw a noticeable difference afterwards, either

Garmin Express doesn't "tell" me, that there is an update.

For some reason, the various persistent sources of fi/w history lag at least one release. This is true for both device and GPS f/w. The only solution appears to be to capture the information when Express offers the update.

I suspect that Garmin rolls out updates over some time span and delays updating the update history till the rollout is complete to avoid frustrating people who haven't gotten the update yet.  If that's wrong, I'd like to know.  The more logical approach in my opinion is to include a readme file along with the update.  In a perfect world the update information would also be informative.  Many companies, Garmin included, sometimes pretend to provide update information, which in reality are just vague notes that provide little or no meaningful information.
