photo viewer what for?

One of the menu entries is also a photo viewer. This was in other garmin devices too, but I never found out what is it for or how can I use it somehow productive.

Can someone enlight me?

  • this is kind of high skills in photo editing

There exist specialized software for exif editing, but I think it needs some training to be able to use it correctly. This information is simply hidden inside the pictures. When taking picts with smartphone, one has to enable the location embedded into the picts usually, it is often OFF as default.

But you ca try your luck and get one those exif editors from somewhere.

  • It's okay, I figured it out.

The photo I was using was sent to me from a relative and it had no location information. The photo wasn't taken with an iPhone (which has gps). I can manually enter location into that photo information, but I had not done so.

When I take a photo using my iPhone, it includes location information, that 66i can read.

    Problem solved!

  • I was wrong. On iPhone, when I select a photo and click the share button, at top of page, it says "Location included Option>".

When I click "Option>", I see the default is location IS INCLUDED.

But when I tested 66i with photo with location included, the 66i behaved as if it was not included.

So something isn't quite working.  I guess I'll experiment a bit more.

  • Finally got it to work. I'm posting this for others with same problem.

One has to go into iPhone Settings and then select Privacy. Then select Location Services. Scroll down to Photos and select.

The default is "While Using the App". Instead select ""Ask Next Time Or When I Share".
