GPSMAP 66i Expedition Mode - Doesn't turn off

When I turn off the device (choose power off), the green indicator light will flash every now and then as if it is in expedition mode. Does anyone know why this is? Is expedition mode still on?

Appreciate any help.

Unfortunately, the next step is a master reset and retest:

GPSMAP 66i Master Reset
1. Ensure the device is powered off.
2. Press and hold both Page and Enter simultaneously.
3. Power on the device while continuing…

Sounds like it!

Can you take a short video showing you select 'Power Off' then the light blinking a few times after?

atlas_cached thank you for your reply. The video is 10 minutes long, so hard to upload. I worked with tech support and ensured that I selected ‘never’ for expedition and when I shut down, it doesn’t give the option to go to ‘expedition’. I’ve tried the option for ‘prompt’ and selected shut down when turning off. The suggestion from garmin tech is to reset to factory settings. Thoughts?

Does the green LED continue to flash after it powers off?

Should be bale to make a video showing you powering the unit off and the LED status immediately after in less than 20 seconds.

Not sure why your video needed to be ten minutes long...

It doesn’t flash right away. It flashes every 10+/- minutes once it has cycled off.

Interesting. What happens when you power back on - Normal Garmin boot sequence, or does it show 'Resuming' message first?

When I power back on, its the Normal Garmin Boot. Doesn’t say Resuming.

Do you have inReach tracking enabled? At what frequency is it configured to send data?

Tracking is off (Auto Track Off) and set to 10 min
