---> 4.20 BirdsEye Direct Reset

Hey Support and Community,

I'm sorry, I saw this article when searching for help, https://forums.garmin.com/outdoor-recreation/inreach/f/gpsmap-66i/169041/4-10-birdseye-direct-reset but the 4.20 update did not fix this issue.  I just purchased this device, updated it, downloaded BirdsEye of the area I will be going to next week and the same thing is happening where I go do view one of the downloaded sections and it shuts the device off.

Please help.

  • A call to tech support is in order. The previous problem was a crash when trying to download imagery. I think this is a new symptom.

    i do not see this problem when viewing existing imagery.

  •   What said is correct.  For us at Garmin to look into this more, we need to have every step you are doing to cause this issue to happen since we haven't been able to reproduce it here.  If those steps do not work, then we would need to know what has been added to the device since you have bought it, what has changed since you started seeing this issue and also so we can get the System.XML file off your device to see if it records the issue.  Contacting Support would be the best way to provide us at Garmin with that information.

    Also, are you able to download the BirdsEye area you need for this weekend via BaseCamp?  That was the workaround last time and would get you the images you need for this weekend while we are looking into the issue.

    I was using BaseCamp.  The files downloaded over night,  and then I manually moved them to the device.

    Also, I have not installed any other apps to the device nor added an SD Card as of yet.  I'm in line to speak with a support person, so thanks for the suggestion.

  • That is good to know that you found the contact number.

    Also, the issue that you brought up before was with BirdsEye Direct, where you can download via the device.  From my understanding, from two comments ago.  You downloaded BirdsEye via BaseCamp and the issue happened after that.

    So that would be a different issue.  So I'm glad you are talking to Support to work through the issue.
