Why my map update fail asia my sync fail

My my Asia sync fail it's is connected to a good wifi  the software update is the latest version but cannot sync the update map

  • Try connecting your watch to a USB wall outlet AC adapter source while attempting to install the map updates via WiFi through the map manager menu on your S70. Make sure to not use a computer USB power source, or other USB source that accesses storage...as this will put your watch into MTP mode, which locks the display into USB mode and does not allow menu or WiFi connection with that type of connection.

Please refer to the Garmin Support articles linked below for further information regarding the Map Manager, WiFi connection, and installing software updates for further reference if needed:

I hope this helps! Please let me know if any assistance is needed and I would be happy to help. You can also contact Garmin Support to discuss the concern live with one of our experts to help determine further solutions for your concern.

  • I bought 1 week ago, and yesterday i try update the map. But,  last time same situation "map sync failed" How can i do?

  • Keep your watch connected to a non-computer USB charging source while attempting to update the maps via WiFi connection.

If you are located further away from the WiFi router when attempting to install the updates, move the watch closer to the WiFi router to avoid any disconnections during the install of the maps.

The steps outlined on the support page linked below can help to troubleshoot the WiFi connection more in-depth:

If you continue to have concerns, I recommend connecting the watch to your home computer, and install the updates via Garmin Express. Then once the maps are up to date, see if the concerns with the map syncing continue by checking for updates in the map manager.

  • Hi, I have been reporting this problem for over a year. It used to work properly via OTA, now it doesen't. The only thing they say is to use the Garmin Express software. They are clearly incompetent to fix the bug!

  • Iam having the same issue,

I have been using S70 for months. Map Sync failed keep popping up. I connected to good wifi while charging it using the original cable and powerbank. I managed to update the software, but always failed to sync.

Additional bugging issue also: roughly 9 out of 10 times it failed to sync/acquire the GPS/Locations for some app that required location, even if it is outside under open sky

  • Dear GARMIN (Garmin-Cody):

Please answer the issue to higher level. All your answers does not address the issue.

Connecting to USB, close to the Wifi, etc > all does not help. So many complaints about this issue for months, and no proper answer. These will affect the user experiences on Garmin

  • The support article I linked above goes in-depth into troubleshooting options for WiFi connectivity concerns. If the steps did not help to resolve the concern, please contact Garmin Support for further assistance so a Golf Specialist can discuss and offer solutions to you in real time.

Each instance further than the steps outlined on the article requires a discussion in real time to ask probing questions to determine what else may be causing the concern, so contacting support would be the proper step forward after the suggestions in the content have been attempted.

There is not at this time a widespread issue causing maps to fail for S70 users, and if anything changes regarding that I will post here at that time.

When attempting to update maps via WiFi through the map manager feature on the S70, there are a few different variables that can result in the map sync failing, which is not indicative of the watch being broken or faulty.

  • Amen. No other words required.

  • Thank you for the Video,

In fact I have already connected my s70 to good wifi network an always managed to update the software, but filed to sync the Map,

I will try Garmin Express then
