Larger Numbers needed for Hazards and Layups

Please, please, please can we have an update that shows larger numbers on the map for these. Or something on the main screen.  I can't see them on the course and nor can lots of others.

I love it other than that after coming from a Fenix 5 and then a Venu 2.

Please help us long sighted oldies...

  • To humor myself, I've got a Fenix 8 coming from Amazon to test out this functionality.  If it solves the problem, I'll just sell my S70. This is a huge deal for me, as I had cataract surgery years ago and had to go to reading glasses for most things in close. Having to "fiddle F" with the touch screen to even navigate the course view is irritating and the Fenix 8 has 6 hard buttons.  I'm hopeful the distance to bunkers is LARGE ... We shall see!

  • The fenix 8 displays the same layout for hazards as the Approach S70 displays them, with the font size of the numbers also being the same.

There is custom text size option offered on the fenix 8 series accessible through Watch Settings > Display & Brightness > Text Size where a slider can be adjusted from left to right to increase menu font...however, the text size adjustment settings does not affect activity data screens, front and back of golf hazards, and other certain activity app formatted information displayed.

  • Ok, thanks for the reply. I'm trying to put the Garmin thought process together on which watches have the ability to have the larger font sizes for hazards. It's very difficult for me to reason. In hindsight, I should have never purchased the S70 and stuck with the S62 (but I wanted to better display and improved smart phone capabilities). Please (I beg) find a way to bring larger fonts like it was in the S62. Otherwise, do I go down to a S44/S50? It just doesn't make sense the rhyme or reasoning on when/where/why in Garmin's watch portfolio they use one format vs the other. Anyone considering the S70 should truly hang tight until a final word is given. I'm assuming Garmin views the S70 as their Flagship Golf Watch.  I think if you polled 100 people, 90+ of them would want the larger font. I truly appreciate consideration of bringing back the way this looked in the S62. There is not a feature/benefit to the current view, unless I am missing something.

  • Yep, just as you mentioned the Fenix 8 exhibits the same behavior as the S70. Unfortunately, I had already placed an order on Amazon prior to your guidance. As others have suggested, I have a couple different Epix's coming too for a first hand comparison. As I mentioned to Ryan over chat, I am a migraine sufferer that is triggered by eye strain. I'm diligent and love the Garmin quality ... just trying to peel back the onion and see if I can land on a solution. Goodness the S70 is such a match for me and others ... minus this one flaw.

  • EPIX Pro - > same small fonts. Any feedback on the "best" Garmin watch with the larger font for hazards and layups? My Amazon return grows larger. ;-)

  • The difference with the Epix is that you can see the hazard numbers in large font when you use the external button to scroll through the hazards.

  • Thanks .... maybe that's with the Epix, but not the Epix Pro that I tried.

  • Apologies ... The Epix Pro DOES show larger numbers when utilizing the hard buttons. My S70 is still by far my favorite. The hard buttons are nice, but there are drawbacks I'll save for another day. If Garmin can just bump up the font size on the S70 I'll sing praises! By doing so, they could utilize the change with all watches going forward.
