S62 Not Connecting to Garmin Connect

The Garmin Connect app is telling me to connect only via the Garmin Golf app.  However the S62 used to connect to the Garmin Connect app.  How do I record golf activities AND fitness...isnt that the whole purpose of this watch?

  • The Approach S62 must sync through the Garmin Golf app as that is the parent app for syncing your specific model of Approach watch.

The information then transfers to display within the Garmin Connect mobile app. This is why the Approach S62 is initially setup through the Garmin Golf app when the watch is new out of box for pairing to your smartphone.

In the Garmin Golf app you must open the Profile tab > Select "My Devices" > Then sync your watch from there on the next menu to transfer information to view within the Garmin Connect mobile app.

The Garmin Connect mobile app will display your Approach S62 is connected but is not the app that is used to sync your actual watch.

  • This has only just recently changed and it’s a pain! As an example, when you select Garmin pay, in the golf app, it directs you back to Garmin Connect. But Garmin Connect states that no device is connected, when it clearly is. It suggests to toggle Bluetooth on and off. I do this and can’t see any connection. I go into wallet and it still states that no device is connected.

  • We have not made any changes to the applications or software for how the Approach S62 syncs. The Garmin Golf app installed, running in the background and maintaining a sync with your S62 is required and always has been required.

Smart features like Garmin pay, step tracking and connect iQ content must go through Garmin Connect mobile and Connect iQ Store..that has not changed for setting up. syncing or viewing those types of features.

  • O have a similar problem, I can’t connect my S62 with garmin golf since I change my IPhone, always said ther is a problem with connect server. I restarted everything but still can’t pair. Can you give me a solution?

    1. I agree something fundamentally seems to have changed. Thapproach s62 no longer seems to ever be connected to Garmin connect. It requires some convoluted approach through the golf app to connect. I go into Garmin connect, nothing is synchronised. The activities, steps  heart rate etc is what I want.
  • I’ve had a Garmin S62 for 5-6 years and the cable connection to the watch is TERRIBLE. The 4 little spring loaded pins on the watch end quickly fail. I go through at least 2 a season. I’ve used the Garmin cables and aftermarket cables and they both fail for the same reason. I threw 2 cables out tonight and managed to get one to connect and update only by holding it tightly into the watch the entire time. I ordered 2 of the puck like charging cables as the reports on them are better.
I should add that the Garmin Express app is very buggy. I simply couldn’t get it to boot up and it would take 5 minutes + to load the home page. I trashed the app and redownloaded it and finally got it to work.
I shut off Webroot and my VPN as well.
I’m not trash talking Garmin. Great watch, but the cables and app just don’t measure up to your standards

  • Same issue here.  Golf App connected = yes.  Set up Garmin Wallet "device not connected" etc - then it seems to be a doom loop of faulty logic.  Any fix on the horizon?
