Putting stats manually marking putt

Having confusion with why ct10 sensors are needed for putting stats.

if I can manually mark my putt and the hole location, shouldn’t that be enough for putting stats?

I find manually marking the putts to be more efficient anyway as the ct10 sensors don’t pick up on shorter putts.

also, what’s the point of being able to mark the flag from standing next to it with a double click if it doesn’t save after the round. What would people use the double tap feature for if not for saving where the pin is for stats

  • My understanding based on Garmin posts in these forums. CT10 on a putter is required to get short game and putting statistics. Marking putts or even pin location on your watch is not used in statistical calculations.

What is the point or marking putts/pin on your watch? Seems like for now, no point. No idea why Garmin added that feature and did nothing with it.

Maybe they can post and explain that.

  • Does anyone within Garmin actually monitor these forums and provide answers? Thanks

  • The putt marking feature is an option that was added as a post release feature to specific watches to allow users to simply mark the locations of the flag and the locations of putts like the Autoshot feature does for full swing shots. The locations recorded for putt marking are simply to allow reference on the shot map synced over from the scorecard after the round.

Putt performance stats were introduced with the release of the CT-10 sensors, which allow automated scoring, stat tracking, along with putt detection with the assistance of the sensor alerting the watch that the putter was pulled out of the bag, which puts the watch into a more sensitive mode to detect the light impact of a putt...whereas the shot detection with the watch alone is not designed to pick up low or lighter impact shots like putts and chips...only full swing shots that have a greater impact for detection from the watch on the wrist.

Please note if you have questions and want answers directly from Garmin, you can contact Garmin Support to speak with a Golf Specialist, as not every post in Garmin Forums will have a response from Garmin on them, with the forums being a community discussion on Garmin products.
