S62 Plus CT10 for Putter?

So, I couldn't stand having the competitor's club tags, clip-on device, and phone app all charged, updated, and running.  More than once I got to the club and realized I switched clubs but didn't remember to switch tags.  Thus, I was happy to switch to the S62.  I like just taking the watch and typing everything into one device.  What I didn't realize was the lack of putting detail.  I'm ok with not having in-depth putting stats, but my question is whether or not the S62 measures approach shots to the center of the green or is it registering my putts and adjusting accordingly and how can I tell?  More to the point of the topic, would adding one CT10 on the putter improve the fidelity of my approach shots by ensuring it has a better coordinates for the end point?  Thanks in advance.

  • We will communicate any updates regarding the feature request as they become available. There are not any new updates at this time.

  • My concern is that the request wasn't being understood correctly.  What was interpreted in the previous answer from Garmin would not be feasible (know the pin positions automatically).  What is actually desired by the customer's requests would be much simpler (be able to manually set the pin position to the current GPS location).

  • Both are being considered, as the forums has multiple posts regarding GPS-related options for features related to being on the green. If we have future options relating to "GPS related locations of pin placements" we will update the post accordingly.

    Thanks.

  • Yes, I too was looking for this data and thought about getting CT10 for my short game stats. Having now read this thread and a few others along with the replies from Garmin-Cody, it seems it is not ‘important’ enough for Garmin to bother working on this and many other arguably simple software features and I don’t have much faith in this changing, but I’d loved to be proved wrong!

Garmin are shooting themselves in the foot by not adding software features, I might consider moving to a different platform if this doesn’t change and I’d assume possible customers might never buy a Garmin device if it doesn’t have features other cheaper devices have by default. I think they have a great physical platform with their range of watches etc. but it is let down stinking by the lack of software development that could be done.

Seems to me that they don’t want to add any new features to old devices, so that they have space to add them to future devices giving them ‘exclusive’ features and create a reason to buy it over the previous model, even though its purely a software update!

Realistically you wouldn’t even need the sensor to update the location of the pin, when you get on the enter score menu, the first screen could be a ‘register pin location’ button where you hold your watch up to the flag and then continue as normal to add strokes, putts fairway and penalties.

Besides the CT10 design only fit into normal grips and not my putter grip unless I was willing to drill a hole into the top of it (which I might do if more features were added).

I was thinking about getting CT10, but now I know its not what I (and many others) expected I won’t unless software features are added. I was thinking about upgrading to S70, now I’m having second thoughts if they can’t even add this simple feature amongst many others that have been suggested and about the future support for these devices.

Lets keep pushing and hope that we get these updates one day!

  • I bought an S70 mostly for golf.   The battery life is amazing and the best feature of the watch,   The stats and App are miles behind most other golf apps out there,    I am very disappointed to hear that putting is not very accurate other than # of putts per green.,   Arccos has a button on their app that you press when standing next to the pin.  This seems pretty simple and a perfect solution.
