S62 Plus CT10 for Putter?

So, I couldn't stand having the competitor's club tags, clip-on device, and phone app all charged, updated, and running.  More than once I got to the club and realized I switched clubs but didn't remember to switch tags.  Thus, I was happy to switch to the S62.  I like just taking the watch and typing everything into one device.  What I didn't realize was the lack of putting detail.  I'm ok with not having in-depth putting stats, but my question is whether or not the S62 measures approach shots to the center of the green or is it registering my putts and adjusting accordingly and how can I tell?  More to the point of the topic, would adding one CT10 on the putter improve the fidelity of my approach shots by ensuring it has a better coordinates for the end point?  Thanks in advance.

  • The CT10 sensors allow for putts to be tracked per the support page for performance stats

The info in my responses above is simply in reference to tracking specific putt locations, to the precise hole location of each green that day for the course being played.

Not sure how You do this if You don't know where the flag is?

  • The flag can be referenced from the location on the Approach Shot., and relation to the front/middle/back of the green is referenced from the color of the flag used that day typical to most courses.

Courses also may post the position on their site for that day, at the clubhouse, or sometimes outside the marshal check in station commonly. Then the position on the green view feature can be changed on the watch after starting the round.

  • Not, to be picky ( or Yes, I want to be..)

In the line You removed, screenshot of the same user manual You referred to, it states that Garmin will calculate the averages of putts inside 10 ft, medium 10-20 ft and above 20 ft.

It does not say that user has to move flag to exact location, neither before or after he's on green.

In addition , You states that the watch is not accurate enough.

So my question is still unanswered, but I can rephrase:

How does Garmin calculate number of putts inside 10 feet, when neither the accurate flag position is known, and the gps has a 10 ft accuracy?

Do You expect the user to locate the flag inside a feet when doing an approach shot from 100 yds? And if the user actually can do it, how does Garmin find out with 9 ft accuracy of the gps that the flag is 2 feet away or 11?

  • But Cody, we know that we can spend time (we don't have on the course) to move the flag to an estimate of the green but that is not what we are asking for. We would like to trigger a location registration (just as the CT10 does when a stroke is played) with a single button on the watch. Its that simple. If the location is 10ft out, then that is fine too and allow us to decide to use or not. Why are you, who clearly do not play competitive golf, refuse to provide a feature that is technically very simple to implement and requested my 1000s?

If your argument of location variance apply, why do you encourage the CT10 on a putter? What is the difference?

We do not want to use the menu features to set the pin position please!!! It takes too much time on the course!!! We just need a single button (or a single menu item on the first menu screen) to set the pin / flag location while we stand next to it.

  • If you had a CT10 "club" named "Flag", you could take it out and mark the flag position, like a club hit. Just an idea. :-)
Alternatively turning the putter upside down after the last put, could signal the flag on green.

  • It could simply ask us where the pin was at the end of the hole.

  • Keep commenting and upvoting these responses.  I just wish we could access the decision maker for this stuff.

I'm pleased they added more club choices, I have a bunch of old Adams tight lies hybrids that have benefitted from the higher number of choices of woods in particular, but bar none the number ONE request I've seen on this forum is to add a way to quickly mark where the hole is on the green.  Even with the accuracy limitations of the watch GPS, this would be a massive help to pace of play, lower frustration from interacting with the watch when you need to be getting off the green on a busy weekend, and probably flood this forum with positive Karma towards the developers.

I can think of 6 holes I played yesterday where a "quick hole" feature would have been way more accurate vs GPS accuracy than "center of the green" accuracy.

  • In a private game this sounds like a fine option, however ready golf could be a problem.
Some players don't like time spend on my S42 and CT10, but they can clean clubs for a minute at every hit.

  • No reply from Garmin on this other than a misunderstanding of the request by Cody?  Come on guys.  I am a software developer, and I can promise you that this feature would be dead simple to implement.  Rather than having to manually set where the flag is, an action of "The Flag Is Right Here Where I'm Standing Right Now" would be very useful, and the code path should be very simple given than you can already change the location manually.
