Notifications have become intermittent. Is my watch defective?

Notifications have stopped working on my watch. I didn't realize until after I got an S60 how much I appreciate this feature! I have gone through the manual, powered off and restarted both my phone and watch several times, uninstalled and reinstalled the Garmin Connect app, nothing seems to be a complete fix. When I reinstall the app notifications may work for a short period. And occasionally they'll work but for the most part this function is no longer operable. Looking for anyone with similar experiences especially if there's a fix available. Have researched as best I can to no avail. Second question, something I really don't want to do if at all possible but what would be the worst case if I reset the watch entirely?

  • I started this thread in December. Have added comments occasionally but mostly just followed the continuing experiences. I followed Chris/Crow steps yesterday and immediately the notifications began working after completing all of the steps in order. Several hours later, that stopped. Notifications aren't working this morning either.

I feel I've been patient, users overall have been while also expressing frustration. I still like the S62 for golf (not perfect but I'm not sure there's anything better). I would not, however, be able to recommend it to fellow golfers. For $500US at least. Given the technical insufficiencies, this product is to me at most half that value.

    Garmin, please do better.

  • Waiting 7 months for an update that isn't even working is unforgivable from a big company as Garmin. This is starting to look like a joke. Also we waited 8 months for updates and hopefully added functions but all we got after 8(!) months was "MINOR bug fixes and updates".

I honestly don't know what the software department has been doing for 8 months if that is all they made when there has been 100 different suggestions on functions and improvements requested and added to the "to do list".

  • Totally agree !!  It makes you think Garmin as a company and their software engineers don’t care about this issue …8 months and still not fixed !! This latest update has still not resolved the notifications issue , It makes you wonder if they even pre test any supposedly updates they do !!?? By the comments of users on here and other social media platforms it appears they didn’t !!Rage

  • I completely agree. 7-8 months waiting for a fix is unacceptable. Luckily for me the fix appears to have worked on my s62. Time will tell.

  • CrowLeighton : what phone are you using ? Android / iPhone etc ? And what version of the Golf App are you using on the phone ?
I’ve just reinstalled the Golf App on my phone ( Samsung S20+) and it’s showing version 2.0.1 . Will see how it goes with the notifications  , also playing 18 holes today too .

  • I've got a Samsung A70. Garmin golf shows version 2.0.1 and Garmin connect is v4.45. Android 11.

  • Been there…done that. I have Samsung S10…and it does not work…I’m done with all the bitching and moaning to Garmin…all pointless.

  • What do you mean ‘starting’…This has been a joke since day 1…you know what I find difficult to understand is how can Garmin say they release a new version and did not test it to ensure it works…nahhh don’t worry us stupid idiots that spent 100s of $$ on this watch will test it for them. They can go back to their bosses, tell them the next release is out and close the ticket and wait for the next person to complain….then it will start all over again.

  • Too true !! Garmin should offer a full refund to owners or at least compensation …8 months of waiting for a fix is PATHETIC !!!!

  • Disappointment for me. After 5 days of solid notifications they have stopped working again.

    Regards

    Chris
