Discussion thread for Plays Like Distance on Approach S60 (created April 22nd, 2025

Post from over two years ago that user's here in forums have been using to express recent concerns with Plays Like Distance on the Approach S60 has been closed, and this post has been created for any current discussions so information is relevant for the current maps and software versions the Approach S60 now uses.

  • Thanks Cody.... everything seems to be working now.

    For those that are still having issues, here are the steps I took:

    Connect watch to Garmin Express and install 9.0 upgrade. You need to disconnect the watch from the PC after the upgrade. After the disconnect the watch face will acknowledge the upgrade and go through another install process. Once that's complete then reconnect to the PC and Garmin Express and reinstall courses. Finally, disconnect again for it to finish loading the courses.

  • Still waiting for the version 9.0 showing up in Garmin Express on my PC. Could you please advise when you will release the version 9.0 in Asia Pacific region or specifically in Japan?

  • Try removing the S60 from Express and re-add signing into your account. If your watch has not been synced in a while it will not receive the update. 

    You can also receive the update by syncing the watch through the Garmin Connect mobile app on your smartphone via Bluetooth to receive the update. 

  • Thank you, Cody. Unfortunately, those things did not work. I have Venu3 and vivosmart5. So, I am familiar with how to update S/W and I think that I did nothing wrong except updating with version 8.90 which might the root cause of the issue of my S60.  I wish you could give me other solution. By the way, I noticed that a file folder named "GPU Cache" was created in the desktop screen on my PC when I re-add my S60. I am just wondering if this is OK, or something wrong.

     

  • APAC editions of the Approach S60 are not currently on version 9.00 for software, and should still be on version 8.90.

    This thread topic is related to PlaysLike Distance maps missing completely on the device. 

    If you are experiencing an issue separate from the one cited on this topic...you would need to contact our support office in your region through Garmin Support for further assistance so a specialist can go over the issue with you and provide you support. 

  • I understand why I could not receive the 9.0 version, however, I am experiencing exactly the same issue being discussed in this thread: "Disappear of play like distance since update of 8.9 version". May I understand that I can wait for release of 9.0 version from Garmin for S60 APAC edition? Or, you do not have such plan so far? Thank you for support.
